       The Holidays are here....

....I always have mixed feelings, and stress during this time of
year. All the cash outlayed, all the feelings to consider, the
       scheduling. the seemingly unending errands.
Not to mention the other issues. Year end property and school
taxes to be paid. Hazard insurance quotes to go over. Social
events to either be attended or gracefully sidestepped/gotten
       out of.
       ::)

I hear ya. It's crass commercialism for the most part.

I don't have any real negative issues with Christmas. I have no
children. My sister has 2 grown sons (over 40 years old), each
married with a daughter. I've simplified things by giving each
family $100 in cash. I got tired of buying gifts they don't
really like. I told my sister I don't want more "stuff" - no
       gifts please.
I don't decorate or make Christmas candy. My Atheist group is
having a Winter Solstice party Saturday which I will attend. My
most Christmassy (is that a word?) is going thru my Christmas
Fake Book, playing thru songs I recognize. I'll be using the
fake book for 3 assisted living gigs between now and Dec 25th,
and an extended family sing-a-long on Saturday.
So I'm not stressed over the holiday but I don't have many of
the complications some others may experience. The one thing I'd
like is to watch is "Miracle On 34th Street" - the one with
Edmund Gwen, John Payne and Maureen Sullivan. I've maybe seen
that movie 30-40 times over the years.

David....I would have never guessed in one million years that
you would want to watch that movie again and again. It must have
made an imprint on you when you were young. I have movie
attachments as well, just not to that one. I could not tell you
when the last time I saw it was.
On the other hand, I've seen John Wayne's version of "The
       Alamo"...probably a hundred times.
       "Woodstock" probably a close second.
       "The Longest Day" probably third.

       Happy Birthday past Mr. Llama.
AJ, I noticed that "The Big Lebowski" is back on Netflix.
Hoping to catch it a couple of times. There's something about
the scripts that that Coen brother (dunno which brother) cooks
up that I love. Ever since the dialog in "Raising Arizona"
       I've loved their dialog.
There's also a documentary I've been made aware of, "Dawson
City: Frozen Time". A bulldozer excavation unearthed the
surprise of over 500 silent films. It seems that up in the
Yukon, they were at the end of the film distribution line and
apparently they didn't return the films. In this particular
       case, a good thing.
