Anyone have any plans for Memorial Day weekend?

Any gigs or parties? Bar b Ques?
I think we may cruise down to the coast for one or more days and
get our toes in some warm sand and splash around in the Gulf a
bit.
Grab some fresh seafood....
I cooked some fresh Catfish tonight and it was well received by
the Fam in general.

HeyJ,
I have a gig Friday night. It's at the Frog and Monkey in Mt.
Dora (Florida) in case anyone here is in the neighborhood (ha
ha). Playing with an old guitar playing friend, Vick. I've
known him for over 40 years. And they have a house piano which
I'm told is kept somewhat in tune. I've been playing thru some
things I normally sing to have ready to play as instrumentals
if need be.
I'll also be playing my 4th Monday piano gig. It's at a
different assisted living facility than my 1st and 3rd Fridays
gig.
I enjoy the work of having to prepare for these. It's not the
same as being an athlete, but there are some similarities.

Enjoy whatever beach you visit AJ. It's especially fun to eat
seafood at a beach restaurant. Goes nicely with the whole
experience.

Hey Dudley, if you're ever playing in the Central Florida area,
let me know and I'll try to make it to the performance.
I've long heard how quaint ant upscale downtown Mt. Dora was, be
had never really seen it up close. The Frog and Monkey was a
funky cool joint. Down a short flight of stairs. The piano was
an upright acoustic. In decent tune - that's an almost universal
problem with acoustic pianos you encounter - they're almost
never tuned often enough. With in a small downtown radius there
were at least 4 live music venues.
We played 6-9, all instrumental. I played Vick's material since
it was his gig, I accommodated his songlist. He had some
homemade chord charts. I've played with him here and there
throughout the last 40+ years.
I hope I get to do it again.

Sounds like Florida is getting pretty wet right now. Hope you
guys, (Dave, Dudley) are ok and not getting too much of the rain
and wind.

getting a lot of rain! its all good, we need it! i need to
do a hundred other things that good weather would facilitate,
but when it gets like this, im ok with kicking back and watching
it roll on... i get naked and get out in it if it strikes me...
hope the lightning doesnt! if itndoes i suppose i will get a
charge. here it comes again!

I live in a bedroom community of Greater Houston called Katy. It
actually is a small town that people that work in Houston have
overpopulated.
I'm about 60 miles from the Gulf. This last weekend, the Wife,
The Lad and I went to Galveston island and got a nice Hotel room
overlooking the Gulf. Hit some local attractions, toured some
Old mansions that survived the storm of 1900. Played in the surf
as well...And gorged on seafood. About 40 miles west of
Galveston are some more natural beaches, Surfside,
Quintana...Surfside is rife with surfers and bikinis. Quintana
is an unmaintained beach...Raw and beautiful...We took the long
way home and picked up some driftwood and some seashells there.
