Do you have a favorite Orchestral/Classic piece of music?

I ask this because we are all here coming from a shared rock
based background. My own exposure to classical music came from
going to concerts with the Houston Symphony in school trips.
never got any of that stuff at home. I got interested in
orchestral music when I got interested in movie soundtracks.
An Oliver Stone movie, "Platoon", carried me to what is my
favorite all time orchestral piece...Samuel Barber's "Adagio for
Strings". I haven't watched that movie in years, but that single
piece of music is very powerful...Just so powerful....I can't go
a week without listening to it at least once....

don't really have a favorite
heavily influenced by my GF here, she Always insists that I
accompany her to these classical concerts, she usually goes with
a friend, but sometimes I have to join her
it is boring and refreshing in a way
earlier this yea, I was into Stravinsky, before that, it was
Prokoviev, now at the moment, last week I went to another
concert
so now I'm into Bach's 6 suites for solo cello
hmmm, maybe Bach is my favorite
I always liked the Goldberg variations

I've long been a fan of Stravinsky's "Symphonies Of Wind
Instruments". Beautiful little work. Stravinsky has been a big
inspiration for me. Not just his music, but also some of his
comments on aesthetics and the creative process.
