...Is there anybody else out there as stupid as he is? Instead
of marching for gun control, he said kids should be taught CPR
instead of wasting time marching and protesting.
I'm not making a statement Pro or Con gun control mind you...But
I think kids exercising their civil liberties to peacefully
voice their opinions is a GOOD thing. Getting involved, being
pro-active in society is a good thing, and makes good citizens.
The only guarantee of a Republic is an involved and informed
electorate. These kids are moving in the right direction. they
aren't rioting or destroying property, they are demanding
answers from Government using peaceful, lawful means. Good on
them.
Somebody needs to tell Santorum that CPR is useless if someone
is bleeding to death or been hit by a bullet in a vital organ.

Santorum was a congressman IIRC. After he wasn't (I think he
lost his seat in an election) in congress he became a lobbyist.
Follow the money and the motivation for his stupid statement
will likely be revealed.
I am in favor of gun control when it comes to owning weapons
used in wars. Utterly twisted to have them in the hands of
casual users. The whole "good guy with a gun" is some pretty
feeble logic in my book. And how did guns get rolled into
peoples' religious identity ? I say because their "religious
identity" is actually more of a "cultural identity". Good ol'
boys love Jesus and guns. When people believe in their
religious magic, they can justify pretty much anything.

..In other developments...Retired Supreme Justice John Paul
Stevens, a lifelong Republican, now has called for repeal of the
Second Amendment.
That won't happen, but I was astonished that a conservative
Justice would even give voice to that opinion.
This next election cycle could prove to be a watershed
event...Or the precursor to a true watershed in the next General
election.
