Made some changes to the Dinklestudio
By: dinkleburg Date: March 3, 2018, 10:16 pm

Over the last month or so, I have made a few
additions/replacements in the Dinklestudio.
[attachimg=1]
A Soundcraft Signature 22 MTK mixer. It's supposed to be able to
record 22 tracks simultaneously. The most I have tried to date
is 7. Worked flawlessly. I've only had it for a couple of weeks,
but so far, I likey.
I also added a four channel headphone amp. It's in the upper
left of the pic.

No more crappy floor monitors! Yay! On Thursday I picked up a
couple Yamaha HS7's on the recommendation of a friend.
Should be kinda fun... :)

Wow! Looks great Dan!
I checked out your mixer online and that looks like a hella good
piece of gear with tons of features and the Soundcraft
reputation to boot!
While not cheap, it looks to be quite a bargain! HNGD!
I've had a pair of Yamaha NS-10 tracking monitors for nearly 20
years and they sound just as good as ever. Good, quality
tracking monitors that do not lie Brother. What you track is
what it is. Very flat frequency response. I still keep a pair of
floor monitors around because the NS-10's do lack bass...Which
you want them to do really. The floor monitors give you a better
representation of what your stuff will sound like in the real
world...And the real world is full of shitty systems.. ;D
The studio looks smashing though my man...And I'm glad you got a
jam thing going on with your old buddy...You have too much
talent to keep locked up in that basement... ;)

Thanks, AJ. The mixer is way overkill for what I can do in my
little basement music area, but the only other Soundcraft with
multi track capabilities is only 12 channels. Experience has
taught me that once you start hooking up keyboards in stereo, 12
channels isn't always enough. I hate plugging and unplugging
stuff - I just want to sit down and play/record. Someday, I
would like to take it to someone's gig and try and do a live
recording just for shits and giggles. Could be kind of fun. Or a
nightmare. One can never tell... ;D
We had Auratones in the studio I learned to record in, so I
never got to use NS10's. I bought the HS7's on my buddy's
recommendation after doing a little Googling on them, as well.
I'm quietly resisting the urge to set up my floor wedges. I kind
of like the extra room not having them affords, now that I need
to fit more than one musician in my music space.

It seems to be working so far, bieke. I spent yesterday
afternoon cleaning out and relocating a six foot book case out
of my music area. I think I could dance there now, there's so
much extra space. If I knew how to dance, that is. ;)
