playing festivals was/is a roller coaster

this time i remembered to get all contact info written down in a
book. in what seemed a chance meeting, i found myself being
questioned by the man who turned out to be the money behind both
festivals... i thought he was just another spaced festie kid...
he asked what was my passion and i replied,” if you really
want to know, follow me...”. he and his female friend were
placed in the center of the gongs and despite the pervasive bass
thump of the nearby soundstage, they were both in blissful
mental states and within less than three minutes, both soundly
asleep. i spoke, no response... out cold... im thinking”
fucking great.... ive just gonged out another wasted attention
hound pretending to be a producer...”. i got up and went to the
trailer for some mental adjustments and bumped into them
afterwards. he appeared wasted, she seemed strangely not
so... actually very alert... as they left he muttered
something about seeing me in the morning... i thought
       yeah,,you will remember... not...
he was sitting in attendance at sunrise meditations... both of
them. after im finished, and all have left, he walks up and
asks how many new faces ive seen, 30?, 50? totally fucking
unacceptable... who was the idiot that placed me with
incendias soundstage? he then informed me that he hadnt been
able to sleep for the last three days... he doesnt use drugs,
he was fatigued and worn out... i was in process of packing
up... going home... the music was supposed to stop at 2
am.... instead we had 24 hours a day, non stop bass mono toned
singular repetitive mono rhythmic bullshit... i cant work in
that environment. the promoter was spinning... you are
leaving? you cant leave, youre here to heal these people!
every motherfucker in this city should know your face and what
you do. who played all night? i will shut them down right
now! this is my fucking party! i want you on stage! all
mickd up and mowing them down with as much power as you want...
name your price... i told him my price was going home...
inhad fought the volume and people not cooperating with playing
times... my assitant was sick and not resting, and i was
drained... he stiffened up... i instantly realized i had
just told him “no” , and im guessing he doesnt hear that word
often... everyone got quiet and then he started laughing and
hugged me. he said he could appreciate my reasoning but more
so, he liked people with some balls... ive been offered to play
his private event, for his family... me, my assistant, each
of us can bring 6 or 7 friends... all expenses plus 20%, a
house, a symphonic recording studio, funding... he wants to
promote me... i looked him up, yale grad, and a major player
in miami for the past 8 years or better... what do you say?
honestly, what the hell do you reply to name your price?

cameras are frowned upon at love burn so very few pics of
that... actually i got very few pics period... i stayed pretty
busy and festivals seemed designed to keep everyone in limbo and
       motion...

Glad to hear had positive feedback. Especially someone with some
       gravitas.
I'm thinking the repetitive mono-rhythmic music was surely EDM -
Electronic Dance Music. What I've heard of EDM numbs both my
mind and soul. I could not and would not endure a multi-day and
       night barrage of that music.

Dave, I feel the same way about EDM....It's just high tech disco
as far as I'm concerned, and I proudly sported a "Death to
Disco" T-shirt back in the day.
Dudley...Man I'm sorry the festival wasn't what you were hoping
for. Perhaps this Money Dude can do you some good in the longer
view though. If he really did grasp your scene that is.
Just from the pieces of your music you have posted...Even I can
tell you need a positive atmosphere with as little sonic
spillover as practical from other sources that aren't germane to
the unique environment you are trying to create with the other
musicians you collab with at these events.
Hope the guy ain't whistlin' Dixie about all this stuff he wants
       coming your way...
Thanks for checking in and filling us in!

in all seriousness, i figure its going to cost me close enough
to a grand to do this.. without my fee...
its a one night, private gig, full out, heavy set up. in
miami, 8 hours drive one way. from what ive been able to
search out he appears to be on the level. in the meantime,
dr bronners, the soap people, are huge at burning man, they also
enjoy hooking up artists that need funding with people that want
to fund artists... i met the head man and he informed me dr
bronners is very interested in promoting me... ive been
invited to DC for a couple possibly high profile gigs that might
prove very interesting... and last but definitely not least
was a call from a sikh friend i made at burning man... a gong
player also, hailing from asheville... he has over 100
interested students/players in his area willing to pay $100 each
for a two day seminar from me? im feeling that miami might
best be dealt with by not giving him a set fee... let him cover
20% over my expenses and instead of a fee, allow him opportunity
to make a donation to my 501c animal sanctuary commensurate with
his appreciation of my offering for his family. i feel this
would allow both of us a revealing insight as to whether or not
we can work towards a more binding relationship. the doc
bronner connection feels good from the initial meeting. organic,
non gmo products with a bent for helping the environment...
perfect for an alchemical gnome playing aerial, spinning gongs
at the animal sanctuary... or in front of the washington
monument... oh, just wait! i have a feeling she’s just
       started bucking!

You sound busy and tense Dudley.....But a full plate have you,
yes. You can't not do these things though...There's really no
telling where it all will lead...But you gotta do it Bro.
Sorry I don't live in Fla.
       I'd help you pack.
Maybe the President will come check you out in D.C. and get
enlightened...and maybe lighten up a little.
Hopefully the gig won't coincide with this ridiculous Military
Parade he's so insistent about having.
truly though...The stress coming with all these happenings for
you...It's got to be exciting and adrenaline producing as
well...I'm really excited for you Man. You're such a solid and
kind dude...And it's cool when good things happen for good
       people.
       O0
