I've been working on a version of "Cry Me A River".

I dug it David! Really clean playing, good vocal too. Your
recording technique has improved quite a bit insofar as quality
as well!

Thanks for listening AJ. I positioned the camera (with its
mics) up close and it seems to be better. This is my version of
"In My Life". Recorded a few weeks back. I have been practicing
my singing BTW.

I am attempting to create a song.
I'm exposing myself to potential embarrassment here. The audio
demos I just recorded have some pitch problems. Need to lower
the key.
Anyway, this sausage is still in progress so don't judge too
harshly. These are sketches. I'm trying to create through a
distillation process.

I'm glad you posted this here, in your corner, so to speak. I'm
going to encourage you to keep posting progress and development,
notes and recordings, as you work on this. This could be a
really great thread and an archivable history of your piece.
Kind of a "How I built this song" thing.
Nothing to be embarrassed about at all Dave. I thought the piano
has a real swing and vibe to it, really dug it. The lyrics are
cool. Got the distinct feeling one of the ladies in London is
the subject, lyrically that is. At least I felt the lyrics are a
bit of a examination of her. Drawing that from some things you'd
written about her myopic political views. The piano really
grabbed me. I got a Donald Fagen vibe from it. That said, Fagen
was a reflection of his influences. So for all I know you were
drawing from Count Basie.
Whadda I know. I'm not a pianist.
But I know what I like and I like where you're goin' here buddy.

Thanks for listening and observing AJ. And for the
encouragement. I agree with the view that it's Steely Danish.
Sort of my weakness and my strength. I can come up with some
interesting harmonic movement (on the one hand) , but I'm still
tethered to a blues vibe. We'll see how this progresses.
I have Sony Sound Forge on my computer(s)... I'm planning to
record some of my little musical/lyrical ideas and then I want
to review them (listen back) later on. Then, next I want to
combine any ideas I like/prefer into an audio file together and
listen back at a later time. A distillation. We see if I'm
able to come up with something that feels or sounds worthwhile.

My current iteration of "No Needa Know". I need to come up
with some more lyrics and some more hooks. And it sounds like I
need to lower the key again.

Oops. I posted an earlier recording by mistake. This is the
real true latest iteration. I came up with a second verse. Some
more tweaking is needed. And I changed to Aminor but I think it
needs to come down to G minor.
