Dug 'em both Dave..."I hear you knockin'" by Dave Edmunds is one
my all time favorite songs. Dave was a really solid guitar
player back in the day. he also did some really good stuff with
Nick Lowe in "Rockpile" I'll have to do a YouTube search later
for some of that stuff.
"Knockin'> had such a solid groove and his slide work on it was
really clean and tasteful.
You're version of "Stardust" has just the right amount of
poignancy to it. Make sure and bring the link when you get your
final version down.

Hoping to get YouTube worthy recordings today. I just googled,
and it was written by Dave Bartholomew in New Orleans. Classics
like this have a lot of mileage built into them.
"Stardust" has been recorded how many times ? Hundreds ? I
listened to Nat King Cole's version to get it solidly into my
brain. The Willie Nelson version I checked out didn't include
the intro.
It's fun getting these hard core classics under my belt.

I recorded several takes of "I Hear You Knocking" yesterday.
There were plenty of aborted takes. I got 3 acceptable takes. I
uploaded 2 of the acceptable takes to YT. My clear preference
is version B.
I'll be deleting version A from YouTube, but here are both
versions in all their splendor (ha ha).

I enjoyed them both David.
I think your talent deserves a more sophisticated recording
method.
I also understand, and respect you are going for a more honest,
or perhaps holistic approach to what you are putting
down...Looking for perhaps live gigs, and presenting in these
videos what you have to offer same. I'd just like to say for
the record....That I'd like to see your stuff recorded
professionally for posterity's sake.
But that's just my opinion, your opinion is what really matters.
As long as you're playin'...I'll be listenin'.

As always AJ, thanks for listening. I think I've got about 25
YT videos. I think I have enough to demonstrate my skills for
certain gigs. After my return from my trip to NM, I want to
start looking at buying a used minivan. Either a Toyota or Honda
minivan. This would allow me to haul a larger volume of
equipment. Specifically, I have a Yamaha CP4 keyboard with a
nice road case I've never used on a gig. I want to be able to
go after some restaurant and pub type gigs and may need 2 PA
speakers to get that nice Yamaha keyboard stereo effect.
Currently I only play gigs with a Roland RD64 (only 64 keys) and
one PA speaker. I have a Honda Fit.
And (AJ) , you are correct about needing a better balance
between the piano and voice. But no one can dispute that
everything you hear in these videos is me and only me. I want
to begin (on of these days) to start working on original
content. I've said this before. My musical creations usually
are notated out - at least notated in a cue card sense. The
problem happens when I make a revision to something I've written
- then I need to re-copy everything to add the insertion. I get
lazy when it comes to re-copying. So, after my return, I'm also
going to look into acquiring a Surface Pro. There is software
called StaffPad I'm going to look into. I'm looking for the
advantages of the cut, copy and paste functions that software
gives.

Sounds like you have a plan Daveo...I'd go for a Toyota
though...Hondas seem to go through motor mounts hungrily. just
going on a couple of friend's experience with them.

This is a 5 1/2 minute medley of song portions. Intended as a
demo for an assisted living facility (ALF) - thus the name I
gave it.....ALFing around:
