I generally don't play covers, however..
I have one I did by Gary Moore after learning of his passing.
The Loner RIP Gary.

GREAT COVERS MAN!
I loved Gary Moore. He brought such pure tone and utter abandon
to everything he played.
Have you seen this?

Thanks AJ,
This was my third attempt to illicit a response from anyone
here other than yourself at listening to my soundcloud posted
songs. Nothing. You were the one and only.
The stats I track at SC confirm that each of these posts was
followed up by one listen, and that would be you. Thank you so
much.
Here is the first reply I got from Bucky when I made my intro
post.

I'm jealous of your Ibanez collection. You're not welcome here.
Kidding. Welcome! You're a good player!

There is a little truth in every jibe, I know now that indeed
his words, "You're not welcome here." ring true. I'm afraid
this is my last post here as I can tell when I'm not wanted or
welcome. You know where to find me.
Sorry I didn't fit in. Good luck, Jeff

Jeff,
I know Bucky was kidding about the you not being welcome
here. He and I as well are playfully sarcastic at times and you
know when you can't see someone's face things can get
misconstrued in a hurry. No one knows this better than I. I've
lost two other members through my own oafishness in this regard.
I wish you would hang out....And I'm sorry if you were made
to feel unwelcome....This is not the most active place in
cyberspace to be sure though and I can see where you might have
been bored...Or even felt ignored to an extent. I pray it wasn't
I that made you feel that way.....I try to respond to every
single post here and as promptly as possible.
For the record...I was disappointed at the lack of even
acknowledgement of the music you posted. There are other
musicians here that regularly post their work and I always
listen and always respond....It'a simple matter of manners....
I'm really sorry to lose you Jeff...I wish you'd
reconsider.....But you and I can always keep up on SC....
Thanks for being here for the brief time you were...You're a
real gentleman and a great player.
:'(

I'm sorry to read your perceived offense Belleswelle. This
forum - the Basement - is a very small group. I'm a pianist,
who plays piano in a conventional sense. No synths or organs.
There seems to be maybe about 4 semi-regulars here. My
interest, musically speaking, leans more toward how things are
constructed musically. That is to say, the bass line, any
complimentary guitar lines, vocal harmonies, and so on.
What I see in guitarists is an interest in the "tone" a guitar
player gets. Pedals to shape the tone. What amps are used in
getting that tone. And so on. I'm more of a mind to find a good
sound that suits me and then run with that. As an acoustic
oriented pianist, that's as close as I can get to an authentic
acoustic sound.
So I mostly sit silent when people obsess over guitar tone. AJ
generously listens to all of our musical posts. I will often
give a cursory partial listen, but if there's nothing that
stands out in the chord progressions (i.e. harmonic movement),
the rhythm, etc. I generally move on.
You (Belleswelle) are not the only one who doesn't get listened
to. The democratization the internet has given all of us makes
our music accessible by the whole internet world. But it's hard
to stand out in all the clutter. Of course one man's clutter is
another man's prized music.

I appreciate you hanging with us here Dave....I know this place
seems to be guitar centric most of the time...Me and Bucky
obsess over tone, gear....Stuff that probably doesn't interest
you at all.
I appreciate your contributions, I enjoy your music very much,
and I value your friendship....If I knew some more keyboard
players I'd reach out to them just so you'd have a kindred
spirit in that regard.
Thanks for being...

There's nothing wrong with the Basement being guitar-centric.
It reflects most of the guys who visit. And while I appreciate
your thought regarding reaching out to other keyboard players,
it's totally unnecessary. I visit the Keyboard Corner forum
sometimes. It's loaded with various and sundry keyboard dudes.
Some of them are synthesizer devotees. I have little in common
with them since they seem to be in a quest for the perfect tone
also (tee hee).
My belief is that the tone is like the ink pen with which an
artist draws a picture - a pen and ink drawing. It's my opinion
that the pen is the medium, while the drawing is the point of
the exercise. And it seems to me that many guitar players get
sidetracked into obsessing over the ink pen they're using.
Of course, now I've pissed off the people I neglected to piss of
in the previous posting. But hey, can't people discuss a
point, and disagree ?

Lol...You haven't pissed anybody I know of. I suppose your
metaphor is open to dissection though.
Agreed. The drawing is the point of the exercise...The
instrument being the pen.....It's the ink that is the tone. The
darkness or lightness. The playing would be the finesse involved
in the character of the drawing. I mean...if we're drawing say,
a clay pot. A clay pot is a clay pot. The only differences would
be.."I think that's the drawing of a clay pot." ..."That's a
drawing of a clay pot"....."That is a wonderful drawing of a
clay pot"......"DAMN! That is an unbelievably brilliant drawing
of a clay pot!"
Yes...A lot of guitar players obsess over tone. Guitar
players obsess over more damn tech issues than you can imagine
Dave. The Gear Page is full of guitar players obsessing over
every single facet of guitars, amps, pedals, strings, scales,
playing techniques....Ad Nausea-um.....And argue about same.
Elicit any opinion about anything guitar related over there and
you'll instantly find any number of people ready with arguments.

I've been playing more acoustic than electric for the past two
years. It fills up space in a way that doesn't require reverb or
delay. I don't obsess over tone, but I do like playing with it.
My default tone is a fuzz of some sort with a cranked amp model,
but I rarely record with the amp and effects I have on my
Digitech without tinkering with reverb or something.
Robert Fripp said that guitar is a fickle instrument, and I
spent a long time trying to expand it as he did, but the
acoustic guitar cuts out all the ego and tone obsession. It's
about pure expression.
