ok...It's pretty danged miserable here
By: AJ Date: January 16, 2018, 8:46 pm

All day long it's been sleeting and snowing and that's abating
shortly....But it's going to get down in the teens tonight and
all that moisture is gonna ice up the freeways even worse than
they are now.
We knocked off at Noon today. A good thing. The overpasses were
already freezing over on my way home.
Made a big pot of chili. A big batch of shrimp fried rice for
the Lad...Who won't eat anything made with ground meat in
it....And also is a bit Asian wanna be...I think it's the Anime
thing.
Had a couple of cups of decaf after dinner, with copious amounts
of Kahlua in it. Feeling quite warm and cozy despite the fact
that the windows in my Office/Music room are covered in ice.
This kind of weather is very rare here. The local TV stations
had nothing but weather related stuff on all day. Wreck
coverage, Reporters slipping around on icy streets...Bunch of
morons really. Exaggerating everything to the max. The road
conditions are serious however and I'm glad we shut the shop
down early, the guy on call was instructed to put off any
service calls due to the inclement conditions.
Should start melting off in 48 hours and we'll probably have
service calls out the Ass then...But that's then. Tonight it's
coffee and Kahlua....

We went to see Milky Chance in Atlanta, and I had to drive back
in snow that was like gritty sand. I racked up experience
driving in ice and snow in Virginia, but I've never driven when
it's like this.

Wednesday was cold here but with a high of maybe 65. I took a
walk and by the end of the walk, around 5 PM, I could feel the
temp dropping.
Thursday morn (now) it's sunny and cold, but maybe around 35 F.
And sunny. Those northern jet streams are dipping much further
south.

...And the deniers say "Look, It's colder than normal! This is
global warming?"
Well yes Virginia, it fucking is. The flip side of global
warming is colder, longer winters to go with the Hotter,Longer
summers.

The bullshitters are spewing bullshit to cloud the issues.
Trump's constant lies create clouds. In a Facebook post, going
against the current (seemed to be ALL Trumpers), I made a
comment about Trump's money laundering. If you read any of a
variety of sources, Trump was involved with Felix Sater who's
reportedly very mob connected. The reply from the Trumpers was
that Hillary was the money launderer. The Clintons were
investigated for years by Ken Starr. Hillary spent what (?), 11
hours being questioned by a Senate committee. Trump wouldn't
survive 1 hour without several perjuries. The truth has been
severely undermined. There's Fox News, which is THE truth by
one side. Then there is the WHOLE journalist community which is
completely dismissed by the Trumpers.
Therefore the climate change concerns voiced by scientists, are
complete lies.

Kenneth Starr spent tens of millions of our dollars chasing the
Clintons and came up exactly nothing definitively linking them
to criminal fiduciary activity. Oh he linked Bill to several
women to be sure. Billy likes the ladies. And there were what
looked like some iffy sweetheart deals involving the Rose Law
Firm....But no indictments.
Starr became obsessed with the whole thing...At our expense.
Fox News isn't the only questionable news outfit around though.
They are unabashedly right wing. Msnbc is unabashedly Left wing.
The Washington Post just wants to hang every politician in
sight...Which is a good thing really.
this could go on for days........In short...I trust the
scientists that have dedicated their lives and careers to
studying our planets atmosphere. I believe Climate change is the
greatest danger to our species along with overpopulation. We
have the power to change direction with both of these things.
The powers that explore for and exploit fossil fuels are the
main financial forces behind the deniers....And far too many of
the deniers are politicians...supported by those powers.

I read that Tucker Carlson and Hannity both aired someone
voicing a new conspiracy theory. This one was that the Las Vegas
mass murderer was ISIS connected. They guy had zero evidence.
But BOTH ASSHOLES aired the conspiracy without pushback.
Pretending to be "objective". Fucking assholes.
I have no problem with conservative or liberal leanings. But for
fucking sake, be intellectually honest. I saw Chuck Todd (on a
Meet The Press Daily segment) interviewing someone from
Brietbart. The guy referred to a "story" Chuck Todd pointed
out that NBC did NOT air this particular story because they
could not verify it from a separate source. This is the problem
with Rupert Murdoch's Fox. They have people prattling on,
promoting rumors that suit Murdoch's directives.
We need a new model. Dunno what that would be.

I'd submit that the model we need is an old one......Honest,
Objective reporting. The The Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow
model. The Ben Bradlee model. The you don't print or broadcast
shit unless you have the irrefutable, undeniable, verifiable
truths of the story at hand for all to see and hear and read.
That may be a hard hill to climb with sensationalism ruling the
day.

Ted Koepell (sp?) was one I think. Of course he aged out. But I
have read that disciplined honest [i]journalists[i] require at
least 2 sources. to make a story public. I'll say I think Fox's
journalists probably adhere to this. But in their prime time
they air Tucker Carlson (replaced harasser Bill O'reily) and
Shaun Hannity. I read that some guy was murdered named Seth
Rich. Hannity and fellow fabricators (whoever the hell came up
with the bullshit) pushed a murder conspiracy story. With no
evidence. When threatened with sewage (i.e. lawsuit) he stopped
pedaling this on air. But I read it was up on Fox's website for
another week before coming down.
Last week after Trump's "shithole" remark (you may not have
heard about it ! (wink wink) I watched Tucker Carlson's intro
segment. He turned the story around - didn't actually quote
Trump's line - and moralized about how Trump is being attacked
for wanting the best people. Actually I like a merit based
system - but not giving preference to the Aryan (sp?) master
race. I've read that Donald's dad was in the clan in NYC. But
most media haven't publicized this. Maybe because the sins of
the father aren't the sins of the son (or WTF). But imagine
what Fox would do in a similar scenario - oh wait - the Obama
Kenya Muslim horseshit noise.
Now tell me which lefty leaning organization is as full of shit
as Fox News. You can say CNN is left leaning. But come on.
Even the fucking Wall St Journal broke the $130k payoff story.
Murdoch owned. But as far as I know, Fox hasn't covered. This
is evidence based - someone traced some records and connected
dots. Fox also made nary a peep when Roger Ailes and Bill
O'Reilly were outed as pervs.
Just want to go on the record.

I think NPR does great work actually. I often watch the BBC
American 30 minute news cast here at 6 PM before the bit
networks at 630.
I also watch some NNK (a Japanese newschannel in English) and
sometimes a DW (Deutsche Welle - I think) newscast.
