       Dat Tele Build
By: bieke Date: July 3, 2017, 2:43 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I mentioned I was going to slap together a quick 'n dirty Tele
I still had some parts lying around
and I found a B-stock & Blem Allparts neck (fat shape like on a
       Nocaster)
and a used butterscotch Warmoth body with a nitro finish, slight
       discolored
still had a set of pickups (ToneRider) lying around, but since I
got body/neck cheap, I figured to drop in better of pups
I spotted a pair of Fred Stuart Blackguard pickups for sale,
made an offer and got the pups for 140$
neck and body cost me 160$
ordered a bridge and I was ready to go
       to build a Blackguard Telecaster
       8)
I started last week thursday after work, I used MicroMesh 6000,
8000 and 12000 pads to get rid of the glossy finish on the body
       and the neck
this took me until 4am in the morning
I ended up with a smooth neck, and a body with a thin skin nitro
       finish
here's the neck (sory, dark pic, it was middle of the night)

before going to sleep (I have to get up at 7am to go to work)
I cut out the waterslide decal and fitted it onto the neck
and let it dry for 48hours

next day, I went to work and during lunch break, I dropped in
the pups and did the wiring
well, all I needed to do was take out the Toneriders and drop in
       the the Stuart pups

I also sandblasted the hardware, just a rapid and quick 0.5
       second blast
ads a nice pitting effect to the shiny hardware, you hardly
notice it, I think it makes a difference
you never read:see anybody doing this when building a Tele
it's just something I discovered when I was doing a relic job
sandblasting the hardware to get a light rash/pitting effect on
       the hardware
also makes it easier for the muriatic acid if you want that
       artificial corrosion thing
easy to overdo this and then it looks dull and it's non
       reversible
       so 0.5 secs
       that was quick

went to a party friday night
I ain't getting any younger so I got up at 1.30pm the next day
figured it was OK to finish the headstock with a nitro clear
       lacquer
normally, you do 3 thin layers with 10 minute intervals and let
       it dry for 72 hours
sand it, wipe it and repeat
       and repeat
and then let it cure for 2-3 weeks
but I just did 3 layers and let it dry unti the next day
