Jeff my friend.....This is a wonderful post.....Great photos,
       idyllic surroundings...
And from a Guy that absolutely sets guitars on fire with his
       playing.
There aren't that many posts here that get "Stickied". But this
one, along with Bieke's Tele build thread are just filled with
such great pictures, and tell such a story....
That I just can't stand for them to move down the line.....

Thank AJ, I took almost 2000 pics this last year. ( Thank God
for memory cards.) That's an insane amount, but you must
understand that for city folk transposed to the country,
we are still in the awe phase. We've been here about a year and
I've yet to hear a siren. Something that was almost an hourly
occurrence in the city. I have many pics that I weeded through
to post the ones that I did. Maybe I occasional post more.

Again, I'm not really a prolific poster, but when I do post a
thread, lookout. lol Usually lots of pics and a sometimes a
       song or two.
       Cheer, J

       No....Thank you....
While I'm not sure how large Lansing is....I've lived in Houston
most of my life....Sirens are things I just tune out.....
       Fortunately....
From ages 5 to 10...I lived several miles outside of a little
Oil Town name of Odessa, Texas. Nothing but the scrub desert
around for miles...A quarter midget go-kart my Dad built for
me...And the only instructions and boundary's were "Don't go so
far out your Momma can't hear your tailpipe or so you run out of
       gas".
       Racing roadrunners....Pulling doughnuts around
tarantulas...Throwin' up sand on Diamondback rattlers and
punching the the Kart to git away from 'em....Scraping away the
prickles from a cactus leaf and then cutting it open and sucking
on it for a sweet and cool bit of moisture....That's really all
the Country Boy cred I can draw on..
       .
When we moved back to Houston, My Grandparents had a cabin up on
lake in East Texas....Many, many fond memories of the stillness
and quiet of the Forest....Pullin' Crappie, White and Black
Bass, Sun Perch and Catfish from the lakes and creeks
thereabouts....Same cleaned, dipped in corn meal and fried over
an open fire in a cast iron skillet...Along with Hush Puppies my
Mom and Granma made.....Heaven...We did some huntin' as well up
there. Whitetail deer, squirrel....Backstrap...Floured and fried
with biscuits and gravy...Squirrel, finely chopped and stewed.
I quit hunting when it got too expensive for me. Relented for a
couple of years so I could teach The Lad how to hunt....That
done...I haven't since. He didn't have the heart for it anymore.
Soft, good hearted Lad that he is...He has the skills if he
needs them now. Knows how to hunt, to fish, to provide if need
be. I can rest in that department. He doesn't feel the need to
repeat that skill set, and why should I force it?
Still......I envy the life you are leading now...But not a green
envy...Just a big grin Attaboy envy.
