Merry Christmas - New Guy Intro
By: belleswell Date: December 25, 2017, 2:03 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hi everyone,
I'm a new guy that AJ invited to the party and I'd thought I'd
introduce myself. I'm Jeff. I live in Michigan.I've been retired
for about a year and a half. IBEW electrician. I love to fish
and play guitar.
I've been playing guitar for a very long time, although I feel
I'm not that good. Just about the time I string 2 good notes
together, I can go to Youtube and have some 12 year old girl
hand
me my hat. Where was the internet when I was learning to play?
I have way too many guitars and too much gear as well, which
for
a long time, was never enough. For the last two years though,
I've
not purchased any gear. Finally killed the gas? We'll see.
Nothing like a youtube vid to introduce myself. Here is one I
posted
on Youtube about 7 years ago. I made the vid about a year before
I
posted it and then got cold feet and shelved it. A good friend
watched
it and talked me into posting it.
Merry Christmas, J

I'm jealous of your Ibanez collection. You're not welcome here.
Kidding. Welcome! You're a good player!

As the token piano player, I'd like to welcome you to this
corner of the internet. I'm Dave. You certainly have quite a
collection. Nice.

Thanks for the welcome guys,
I am not a prolific poster but will try to contribute. Here is
a little
more of my music and gear.

I mentioned no gas for the last two years and here are the
reasons why.

Here is a link for my SC page. I've only been
playing for 53 years so I'm not that good. If you were
to visit my SC page you could read which ones I feel don't
necessarily suck in my profile near the top right of page.

I've been a fan of His for quite some time now....One of the
best lead guitar players I've ever heard...Period. Always
melodic, always tasteful.
But I also have a Severe case of gear envy going on...Top drawer
collection of guitars and amps...Rack goodies...Pedal Heaven...
Would mean shit...Except My man Jeff can [b]WAIL Baby!
Is that and Eric Lifeson Signature model????...DAYUM!...Does it
have the piezo built in to it?
You give me GAS my Man!

I'm humbled by your comments AJ. I usually suck, but sometimes
I suck a little less. I know I don't actually suck, but there
are so many phenomenal guitarists out there,
and for as long as I've been playing, I feel I should be much,
much better.
I can go to youtube and watch these players, (some are young
children) and I feel like tossing another perfectly good guitar
out the window. The same thing I felt when
I first heard Eruption by EVH. I am my own worst critic and as
much as I try to not be, I cannot help it. It's my nature.
Thanks so much guys. The gear acquisition syndrome started for
me in the early 80's when I bought my first Ibanez. A roadstar
with a Floyd. Even though
I started playing in '64, the collecting guitars and gear did
not really start until that first Ibby. I now have 36 guitars
and half of them are Ibbies.
The LP with the killer flame top is a Sig Alex Lifeson model
and yes, it does have a built in piezo. The other Axcess does
not have the peizo but has been the easier of the
two to bond with. Of all of them, my fave player is an Ibanez J
Custom with tri-sound switching. It has Air Norton and Tone Zone
pups. With the tri-sound switching, it has
a huge tonal palate to chose from. Here is a pic of the present
lineup I have in guitar stands at the ready when inspiration
hits. This lineup changes periodically, but usually has the
J Custom and the Fender Urge bass as steadies in this lineup.
