...Me...Your humble host.
I've had SONAR on my computer for over a year now...And just
realized it had a whole slew of guitar amp and cabinet
simulators built into it, all tweakable. Complete signal chain
assembler as well.
I feel like an idiot. ::)

I had my Digitech RP-150 for almost a decade before I used the
USB output for direct recording. Before then, it served as a
multi-fx; drum machine, and trumped up amp sim. It’s a goldmine,
and severely misunderstood as a multi-fx pedal rather than a
processor.
I downloaded one amp/fx sim program that was okay, but it was
too tweakable. I want something simple enough with plenty of
options so I can get up and go. I’m not Eric Johnson, you know.

Well, Eric is notorious about obsessing over every detail of his
tone. Tone could always be better, but Eric could play a Harmony
through a Fender Mini Twin cranked to fart and he'd still sound
good.
If Eric switched to digital tech, the guitar forums would have a
fit.

[/quote] I can't see him doing that....I'm sure he could. He
does use digital delays and has for years...But his tone is
pretty tied up in good 'ol LoudAss guitar amps. At least as far
as his live shows.
Now that I've said that....He'll probably show up with a Helix
DI'ed into the mix and no tube amps at all.
