Finally got the HDMI cable to work on my new Dell computer

---------------------------------------------------------
I bought a Dell XPS 8910 for the living room. I'll be using it
for recording, in addition to listening to YouTube music and
general surfing.
The HDMI was not communicating with the TV. I had 4 extended
phone support sessions and 2 visits by tech support people. The
visits were to replace the 1) motherboard 2) video card. But
each field tech visit determined that the hardware wasn't the
problem. The phone support sessions involved them trying
various things from their end, then having me plug, unplug, etc.
the HDMI. The 3 of the phone sessions were 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Finally, it was determined that my 4K TV needed a newer HDMI
cable. I went to Wal-Mart and got one. Had another phone
session Friday, and the problem was resolved. I have to give
credit to the Dell support people. I asked, and was told they
were in the Phillipines (not India as I'd assumed).
With the HDMI finally working, I ordered the Presonus Studio 26
(bundled with Studio One). It should arrive Sunday. I ordered
the one with 2 XLR preamps because it can work with USB power -
doesn't need to plugged into AC power.
I also recently got a Rode NT4 - with 2 capsules in an XY
configuration. Will begin doing some new recording soon.

I thought about suggesting the Rode NT4 for your gongs since
this mic seems to be good for overhead use like in choirs,
orchestras and pianos. But the downside is that live use can
bang your equipment up leading most of us to use dynamic mics
for live situations.

im ok with taking really good care of delicate equipment...most
of the time... i will use what i have to in the mic
department... its no use doing it if no one can hear it. i
prefer small, intimate venues of under thirty people... best
is one on one! but over 20 or 30 its going to take sound
reinforcement... ive got a decent pa... qsc k 10s and k 8's
with a yorkville elite sub yammy board... what size of an area
will it cover effectively?

I guess we need to recruit a member with Sound Reinforcement
experience. Bieke could probably help in this department, he's a
regular gigster.
