I have played many Epis, and their build quality is where it's
at. The pickups on all of the G-400s/SGs I had were lame. I have
the stock pickups in my Epi Les Paul Custom. My Casino had
American pickups. The S-800 is anyone's guess, but I think it
has ceramic pickups. The Epi mandolin I had was the tits, but I
never hold onto mandolins for long.
But I play my Lag acoustic most of the time these days. My
Mustang is my go-to electric at the moment. Ever since I
performed the hard tail mod, it plays so well. I really need to
replace the tuners, though. The last time I put on strings, the
high-E peg got super tight. Locking tuners would benefit all of
my guitars, but mainly that one. I never play live, so it's not
a big deal if I go out of tune.

The only tuners I ever changed were on my Les Paul. I replaced
the stock tuners with Grovers. Big improvement over the stock
Gibbys.
