Didn't know they had a Florida Burning Man event.
I'm playing this Saturday Nov 18 at a local merchant even on the
local stretch of Orange Ave. It's called "Jingle Eve". I'll be
at the framing shop next to Rock & Roll Heaven - a great local
       record and memorabilia store.
So if you happen to be in the College Park area of Orlando on
       Saturday - oh never mind.

I really wish I could Dave...I'd love to go see Dudley Lama
perform too....With you...And some Magic Flowers!!

looks like 5500 to 6000 people attended. one promoter wants to
fly me to bali, with my entourage and gear for a
spiritual/meditation retreat... another promoter does the same
here in the states and is interested in having me play west
coast, mid and southwest united states... they liked what they
saw i guess because i was offered my own stage and village for
next years event and already have 6 or 7 presenters and
performers / groups on a list for my approval for said
encampment. a mystical videographer dubbed me the alchemist of
vibration, Ringing Mountain, the god of sound, lightning and
thunder... i guess it beat the hell out of jamie the gong guy?
i dunno... its all kinda funny to me... 8)

a blast of a few weeks... a navajo elder i met at standing
rock flew in to stay for thanksgiving and his birthday with me!
i thought december was going to be slow... tallahassee first
friday event... 4 hours last night, wednesday playing the
student union, “the down under” at fsu on the 6th and the 9th...
december gong calendar was blank until three days ago... ive
had five emails in the past week asking for cd’s? ive been
trying for almost a year to get some recording done but i cant
play and watch the machines... i keep telling the “would be”
recording peeps that i want to record on the beach... in the
woods, at the swamp or pond at night... in the rain during a
storm,( at a distance.??) “oh, we can record those sounds and
bring them into mix”. they dont understand... it isnt about
sounding like some dumbass is sitting near the waves and
seagulls and surf amd wind... its about those sounds being IN
AND PART OF the vibrational matrix of the instrument WHILE IT IS
BEING PLAYED... i get it... im a flippin nightmare to record
just due to dynamics alone, thats gong stuff... add that
location recording isnt as easy on the engineers... but one
might consider the notion that sitting in front of these
instruments an average of three to five hours daily for three
years coupled with over 50 years experience as a musician might
lend itself to a little insight. i know what i want, how i
want it... i have a little zoom Q8 that does a surprisingly
remarkable job capturing the gongs using a stereo shotgun mic,
other cams, go pros, sony, dji phantom 4pro completely
programable flights with stupidly super video with mechanical
gimbals...doubles as a hand held stable cam... crown pzms, all
kinds of mics... with my compromised hearing im happy i cant do
both at once, but somethings got to give?

I don't think you are dealing with the proper engineers Jamie. I
think your recordings would be better served by film guys. That
is to say, engineers schooled and experienced in the arts of
location recording. But that's just MHO....Bringing natural
sounds into what you do is almost a given isn't it? I mean your
art is so organic and all.
I remember, years ago, when I still hunted deer...and this goes
       back 25 years...That's how long it's been since I hunted. A
friend of mine who I also played music and I went for a week
long hunt at the lease I had for a few years in the Texas Hill
Country. We took not only hunting gear and supplies, we also
took guitars, microphones and recording gear. We set it all up
in the Cabin qnd we tinkered musically in between morning and
evening hunts and at night. The weather was mild and we had the
windows open and had several recordings that the rustling of the
leaves and the noises of the birds and the woods made an ambient
       underpinning of the guitars...Quite cool...
i can see where getting the blend of the elements and your
exertions on your instruments would pose unique problems. What
you really , again IMHO, is a 360 degree recording capability.
       Warning: Here's where I get weird.....You need 12 microphones,
boxing the compass around the perimeter of your instrument
environment. Not pointed toward you...But away from you..To
capture the environment around you and your stuff. Also, to
pickup what your playing, but as ambiance in the ambient. Each
mike needs it's own track as well. Insofar as recording the
gongs and other stuff you do, you'd be a far better judge of
what is required for that. I think you need at least 24 tracks
       of simultaneous recording ability.
Does all that sound crazy? Sounds like you need a Mobile
Recording truck though....And that sounds expensive..
At least, people are discovering what you're throwing down, and
promoters are digging what you bring. That part of all this is
       All Gud!

i like crazy! last night at dinner, my wife told me that one
of our clients has a small video production company... she just
saved their horse’s life so theyre eager to help! ive had five
or six e-mails asking for cd’s? people still buy cds? i
figured folks would just steal what they wanted...
soundcloud,,youtube... the only cds in my car are gifts from
friends in the music biz... ?? once i considered putting
stuff like album art, sleeve story stuff, bio and the like, on
a thumb drive... brightly colored drive, or gong shaped
rubber protective cover? necklace or ear ringy or braceletty
thingy... with decent headphones you can get the binary pulse
pretty well... enough to send the listener on a trip...
obviously all the frequencies arent there, but all the ones we
       can hear are...
a thought... i could probably run 8 crown pzms on “ reflecting
boards “ to get a surround outside perimeter... 4 might work
but 8 would give more fine control on mix?
wed im playing the student union at florida state u.... the
down under... they sent me a five page flyer
with a bunch of production info and requests... ive never had
to deal with any of this, isnt this what i pay a manager for?
oh... right... i dont have one...
