The "Politics" topic...

....Was unused.....Removed it......No sense having it
really....What little politics we talk about are not crowding
any threads anyway.

I have no argument whatsoever with that statement, and
simultaneously endorse it, and applaud your restraint in
elucidation of said opinion.

I do a great impression of John McCain.
“When I was a prisoner of war...”
I was asking you about Pop Tarts’ new flavor, John.
“They made us eat Blueberry offbrand without frosting!!! That’s
why I should’ve been president!”

I try to refrain from discussing politics or belief systems
whenever possible.
I subscribe to the "it's better to remain silent and be thought
a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
I seem to excel at doubt removal. ::)

Actually, I never really cared for CK's shtick. I don't think
he's that funny.
People that abuse power turn me off though. It's one thing, if a
persons political views or sexuality differs from mine, I can
ignore those things and still appreciate their art. There are
some levels of perversity I can accept, provided said
proclivities are consensual. If they are forced, it turns me off
and I can't help but tune out the artistic efforts.

Louis is my hero. The way he's being thrown under the bus with
literal rapists like Cosby, Weinstein, and Spacey has really
affected me today. He literally asked for consent if he could
jerk off in front of these women, and they later regretted it.
Yeah, it was sleazy and traumatized them (which is what they
claim), and he admitted to it... But he's not a rapist and he
didn't deserve to have his career thrown away in a day. He had
tour dates cancelled, his finished movie is canned,
FX/Netflix/HBO have turned him loose, and friends of his
publicly denounced him. The only person to not really give a
shit was Jon Stewart, of all people.
His comedy, TV series, and projects helped me through rough
times and gave me lots of joy and entertainment. It was on par
with reading Bukowski. You're not supposed to want to be him,
but you can empathize and relate. I wasn't alone in feeling and
experiencing certain things, and I could laugh at a lot of it.
Mind you, this is the guy who had a woman rape him during an
episode of Louie, and no one said shit. He got aggressive with
his girlfriend on another episode, and people got really
offended.

I think the fact that he came out quickly and admitted that the
accusations were true speaks well of him...Also the words he
used, and the admission that the system of power in the
entertainment world discouraged women from calling him out about
having a penchant for rudely displaying his Johnson...Weinstein
did that same shtick.
It seems like, right now, there is a veritable shitstorm in
progress concerning abberant sexual behavior by men, especially
in highly visible sectors. People are crawling out the woodwork
with stories about Actors, Producers, Senate candidates.... I'm
unsure what the mechanics involved are.
I kind of wonder if Trumps "Locker Room" talk with that reporter
started it. It was considered so outrageous, it's as if perhaps
Trump enraged and empowered women all over the country in to
action, so to speak. Regardless of the reason or the impetus,
it's a good thing if people that have been afraid to speak about
abuses of any type have been encouraged to do so. I mean,
certainly, you are going to have people jumping on bandwagons,
making untrue accusations. and it's important for the press to
practice due diligence and get all the facts before publishing.
What is a bit disturbing I guess, is the fact that Hollywood, in
particular, is pretty damned quick on the trigger insofar as
executing people without trial. Weinstein's behavior has been a
well known secret for decades...Many of those calling for his
head have been doing business with him for as long...I don't
believe these assholes didn't know what a sleazebag the guy was.
He appears to have been the most egregious of these offenders.
Kevin Spacey was a well respected actor...Hell I've loved a lot
of his movies. I didn't care that he was gay. Even if he wasn't
out...I mean shit I have terrible GayDar and I knew he was. But
now...In less than a week...His career is completely destroyed.
Ridley Scott is going to reshoot every scene of a movie, set for
release, every scene Spacey was in, with Christopher Plummer.
Louis CK's career is also destroyed now..In a matter of days.
Now, a former Alabama Supreme Court Justice, running for
Session's old seat is under fire for groping a 14 year old...27
years ago...But is he taken off the ballot? Nope. Bill Clinton
came all over an intern's skirt..Hell they couldn't even get him
impeached.
I'm not taking up for or defending these guys. They all
obviously had predatory sex things going on...It just seems kind
of wrong that Spacey and CK are done...Without trial....
I still don't think that Louis CK was that funny.....But I
respect your opinion Bucky...Just different tastes I guess. When
it comes to funny Louis's, I prefer Louis Black....Or is it
Lewis?
