Tragically Hip.

really...I'm just curious if Dinkleberg was a fan of them and
Gord Downie. He passed last month and I got in a thread about it
over on The Gear Page.
First...All I'd ever known about The Hip was "New Orleans is
sinking", which at the time of it's release, I thought was a
stunner of a song. I had no idea they were a Canadian band. I
don't remember seeking out any of their music after that song
though.
After Gord's passing. TGP kind of blew up with condolences,
remembrances, and apparently, The Hip were kind of considered
the National Band of Rock Canada I guess...Rush not
withstanding.
I went into the rabbit hole watching various concert videos the
TGP'ers were posting of them and was really knocked out, and at
the same time felt kind of stupid these musicians were totally
under my radar. Just really interesting, original music and Gord
Downie was a really great frontman, a really original voice and
stage attitude.

I'm a bit of a pop music idiot, tbh. I stopped listening to
commercial radio a long time ago, probably around the time The
Hip were just rising, so I don't know much about them other than
what I've heard on the radio.
That being said, I have respect for any band that made it as
long and as well as they did. They must be doing something
right, methinks.
