Reconconvieved (rearranged) "Early In The Morning"
By: indigo_dave Date: June 24, 2017, 1:16 pm

I've done this song for more than 40 years. And I often site
Louis Jordan as one of my musical heroes. But I was just
fucking around yesterday and this came out. I have the PCM100
(Sony) about 33 1/3 inches (ha ha) above the keys. About 2
octaves above middle C. The piano turned up to 5. I like the
mix of voice and piano like this. I guess you can still hear
fingers hitting the keys. May have to live with this
inconvenience. Maybe try turning the piano to 5 1/2.
Random mumblings...

Think I've heard you play that before Dave but this version is
really fucking sweet! In fact I listened to it again and
plugged in a dry guitar and jammed along with it! Very cool
rendition! Good recording as well!
Kudos.

very cool Dave..AJ was playing along on git-ar and I was singing
harmony with you on the chorus.. :)
I especially like when you hit the higher 'blues' at the end
of the second chorus (1:36) before you go into the piano break.
smooth southern accent on the vox..some peeps try to sound too
'Bluesey' and it becomes a parody, but I guess your roots make
it ring true.

I agree with you on the "early in the maw-nin" I am playing
thru it with a bit more on the "r". I'm thinking I'll give a
similar treatment to "T Bone Blues" , another Louis Jordan song
I like.

Premium Bud was involved in the creative process (not the liquid
form of Bud). My effort was to make it my own and not just to
copy it. I actually like it. Of course that may not be
unanimous.

Funny, that my re-do of "Early In The Morning" morphed into the
idea to do an up-to-date demo. There's a cool building in
Asheville. I think it's a 1920's flat iron building. But it has
a multi floor balcony bar called the Sky Bar. Upscale
yuppie/hipster/whatever vibe in Asheville. The ground floor
lobby is where drinkers board the classic elevator to go up to
the bar. The lobby has a grand piano. There's a sign asking you
to NOT play the piano, and there's a phone number to call to ask
to play it. So I'm going to call. Got nothing to lose trying.
No pay, but a tip jar. Something to try. A bit of fun.
The demo - Some blues, some Beatles and some other stuff

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Go for it Dave!
