Go Astros!

..Wow...Only the second time in club history they've made it to
the Fall Classic. Hopefully they'll fare better than they did
the last time!
Not that I have a dog in the hunt really...I don't follow
baseball, mostly because over their history, The Astros have
been unremarkable for the most part.
Guess that makes me a fair weather fan...

This is a time you can't avoid being swept up in the local
hysteria. Enjoy it. The Magic (basketball) were contenders
when I first moved back to Orlando in 1995. It was fun.

Sonuvabitch that feels good to say!!!!!!!!!!!! Been waiting
since 1962 to say that!
We used to live about 2 blocks from the Astrodome when it was
being built...Used to ride my bike down there after school and
watch them building......

Thanks Dave...It's a delicious euphoria....Short lived
although...The starting quarterback for our Houston Texans
football team tore his ACL today...Out for the season....Maybe a
good thing...The offensive line has sucked this year and the
defense has already crumbled significantly due to injuries.
perhaps they can make some trades and get some decent draft
picks this off season because this season is trashed
already......
Strange...You know, I was never a sports guy really...I played
Little League baseball and Junior High basketball....But totally
lost interest in sports once I got the music bug.
Then in my mid thirties...I started watching NFL football..At
first just my home teams, at the time, the Oilers, The Astros,
The Rockets. But I was never like, into stats and all that.
Then the Oilers left town...And I lost interest again....Then
the Texans came to be and I perked up again...But my interest
has never really gone past keeping up with the Home teams and
divisional NFL stuff....
...So now with our Astros ensconced in Glory, at least until
spring....The Texans pretty much done in my mind at least, for
the season...and Basketball not even getting interesting for at
least until mid-season......I feel strangely...Sports
Unencumbered for quite a while....Oh, I'll keep up with
standings...To a point....And when the divisional playoffs come
around I'll probably watch some games. I don't expect my team to
be involved.....But I'll probably watch the AFC contests, up to
and including the Super Bowl...But that game is one I always
watch with my younger brother anyway. Kind of a ritual
thing...He and I always watched it with our Dad....And he just
watched it to be with us....He wasn't a sports guy at all....He
never missed any of our games when me and Boomer(My Kid
brother's nick) were playing sports, but beyond that he'd rather
just be out in the garage tinkering with motorcycles,cars and
lawnmowers.
Pop passed in '89...But me and Boomer have watched every Super
Bowl, together, since.
So if I watch no other sports event...I know I won't miss
that'n.
Beyond that...No guarantees of any others the rest of the next 6
months.
