I've gotten sucked into Facebook. I'm not real fluent at it.
Don't have that many "friends". I mostly post political or
music things. I often share a news story about some new stupid
fucking thing Trump has said or done. I have some family here
in the southeast who seem to have been drinking the
Fox/religious delusional Kool Aid. I hope that some of my
posts reach them.
Recently someone posted a political thing about NFL kneelers. I
posted something about Trump creating a diversionary dust up to
distract from his stupidity. Anyway, someone said something
like "yeah, but it's like that on both sides". I posted a long
comment detailing how Trump complemented Duterte
(Phillipines), Erdowan (Turkey) and Putin (Russia). All 3
have are dictators and guilty of political murders. I mentioned
Merkel (Germany) as being the honorable person - whom Trump
insulted and cold shouldered at an international conference. I
pointed out that if they watch Fox news, they don't know these
things since Fox won't air stupid shit Trump does. The whole
post was DELETED. Those Fox News know-nothings still don't
know this particular stupid shit.
Facebook is like making music these days. Everyone has a
"voice" , but it's difficult to get heard among the other noise.
Of course, one man's noise is....

I avoid all political discussion on Facebook. It's a great way
to ruin friendships.

Yeah, and from my perspective, the hostility was pretty one
sided. And Luke came in and tosses in his two cents before
deleting his profile and bashing me on Harmony Central.
Oh well. I'd rather have like-minded, nice friends than many
friends.

AJ, it was Bucky who said he was bashed.
Back to Facebook and political discussions. I believe political
discussions need to happen. The problem is people are only
listening to things they agree with. But there are hard right
wing media outlets who only air news that's convenient to making
their case. I watched (on YouTube) several minutes of Tucker
Carlson and Shaun Hannity railing against Harvey Weinstien's
sexual lechery. And of course how the "liberal media" gave him
a pass. Maybe some did. But back when Roger Ailes and Bill
O'Reilly were outed as sexual harassers, I went to the Fox News
website and saw ZERO coverage. These 2 Fox News guys are
hypocrites. In my view, it appears that critical thinking
skills seem to be non-existent in many people.
There has to be a way to discuss and debate without getting
personal. There are ways to do this. I've watched on YouTube
David Silverman (president of American Athiests) debate a
Christian minister. They both were respectful and were friends
at the end of the debate.

Again, I didn't realize Luke had EVER bashed you at all Bucky.
I'm kind of shocked really, he always talked about how much he
liked you to me.
Well at any rate, I don't want to really talk about Luke
anymore. He isn't here to respond, and he has already accused me
of being a gossip. I don' t want to give him any other reasons
to think contemptuously of me.

I would like to think the few of us could debate politics
civilly. I think in most respects we are like minded...Turned
off by politics and politicians in general.
No subject is verboten here.
