Weekends
By: AJ Date: October 8, 2017, 5:54 pm

Well....it's been a busy weekend. Did a bunch of interior
painting Saturday and Sunday the wife wanted done. Managed to
get it all done with only one trip to Home Depot, so that's a
win in my book. Mowed and trimmed the grass, worked a flower bed
for the wife.
Then under the wife's direction...Rather dictatorial direction,
festooned the house with all of her Halloween decorations, so
that when All Hallows Eve arrives I can listen to the doorbell
shriek for several hours with all manner of pint sized ghouls,
Superheroes, and downright imposters, looking for a handout.
I'm exhausted...But Happy Wife, Happy Life...Someone
said....Probably not anyone that was married...Lol....

We’re broke this weekend, so we didn’t do a whole lot. Picked up
a couple of used books for $1.50 yesterday, and my wife got to
buy a dress at Platos. She made chicken, broccoli, and sauteed
onions last night, and I fried some drumsticks and mashed some
taters.
I eat more home cooked meals when I’m broke than when I lived
with my mom and had anything I wanted.

We've a bookstore New/Used literally around the corner, we've
all been patrons for 20 years.
Having broke years at first is good for a marriage. Gives you
both a sense of shared sacrifice you can look back on with pride
when the money is not a worry.
Having broke years in the Middle of a Marriage is no fun at all,
speaking from experience. That's when your love and devotion to
each other gets proved or disproved.

This weekend...Again, no time yet for music...Tearing up
flooring....Finishing up the painting begun last week...Prepping
for painting next weekend....Another trip to Home Depot...
Went to see the new Blade Runner film with the lad last night
then swung back by the House for the Wife and off to Outback for
a late supper with all.
Up in the attic to replace some insulation this morning. Still
have to do the yard work...Hoped for cool front not hear
yet...Dammit...

How was Blade Runner?

It was different...A starker, dirtier earth. The film was slow
in the middle, after starting out pretty intense. It had a few
plot twists I didn't see coming. Harrison Fords part wasn't as
large as I'd have liked, but the guy can still chew up the
screen when he's in it.
I'd say if you're a fan of the first Blade Runner...You'd like
this one, but not as much. If you've never seen the original,
it's a stand alone film as well, and you still might like it.

I was a Phillip K Dick fan in high school, and I dug Blade
Runner. When I tried to read the book later on, it didn’t grab
me. Then again, I don’t like much genre fiction anymore.
I’ll have to go alone or with my mom. The wife doesn’t want to
see it.
