Vegas

It's astounding what one guy with an bump stock AR-15 can do.
How did he get all that weaponry up to those rooms undetected?
Guns aren't even allowed in Vegas.
Why did he do it? What level of hatred do you have to achieve to
murder people you don't even know?
I'm not really a country music fan but shit....I don't want to
kill any.
In Trumpville, is a discussion about any type of gun control
even a possibility?
This bastard killed himself when the cops closed in...Why didn't
he just start with killing himself?
The concert in England that was bombed, The nightclub in Florida
that was a target of extremists, now a guy with no apparent
political axe to grind mows down people just listening to music.
This world is going nuts...

It’s a travesty how some nut can acheive such catastrophe. I
don’t believe it’s a gun issue, but I believe this guy needed
help. I don’t feel sorry for him, because he’s a piece of shit,
but I’m over this. We’re breeding psychopaths, and I don’t know
what to suggest as a fix.

I have a theory about this guy. And I admit it's half baked.
But my theory after hearing he was a high stakes gambler who
enjoyed the VIP treatment the (blood sucking) casinos gave him,
is that he wanted to experience the power rush of murdering
and disrupting as many lives as he could.
Our democracy is still bought and sold by the NRA. The Sandy
Hook murders confirmed that.

I don't think it's a gun issue either, per se. I think maybe the
bump stocks may get outlawed.
I think it's a given that the guy was nuts. What made him that
way may or may not be discovered.
I don't know what kind of defense we have against things like
this happening.
I mean if you outlawed all gun sales today, there's enough
weaponry out there to outfit millions...And that's just in the
Private sector.
There's no easy answer to it short of a Dictatorship and no one
wants that..Unless they are the Dictator.

They'd have to do a gun buy back program. I didn't click it, but
saw a headline that said Australia collected something like
650,000 (sounds hard to believe) guns in a buy back. Then
they'd need to control (sensible gun laws - forget it) the
distribution of new guns. But then again, the real gun nuts
that collect arsenals would never ever give them up. I guess
it's like my record/CD collection. Except I never shot anyone
with an album.

It was actually about 700,000 including non-prohibited guns
voluntarily surrendered.
Over a 8 year study period, homicides were reduced by roughly
100 a year. Over the life of the new laws, it was a 23%
reduction in homicides by firearms. That's pretty significant.
There are not quite 25 million people in Australia. There 350
million here in the US.
Odd...I couldn't find firm numbers on how many people were
murdered here by firearms. In 2015, over 13,000 people were
killed by firearms, not including suicides...But what i read was
unclear as to how many of those deaths were accidental.
Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the US, yet has the highest
murder rate....

The American mentality is different. In Japan, it's illegal to
own a firearm unless you're in the police force or a farmer.
Culturally, they're so different from us, I don't think their
murder rate would be any higher if they had guns. They're the
same country that isn't conceiving nearly as many children as
they need to the point where a lot of rural hospitals are
entirely decommissioned.
But I really want to own a gun, and I never did until I had the
displeasure of encountering my brother-in-law breaking into his
ex wife's house while my wife and I spent the night. He's not
only a deadbeat, he's a criminal who is fortunately behind bars
now. In that instance, where he was threatening his ex and our
niece, I really wanted to get him out of there. I sure wasn't
going to do it with my fists, because he's bigger than me.
Before, I was very much against owning a gun to due my suicidal
mood swings and depression, but that more or less stopped when
my wife moved in. Granted, I still get depressed and sometimes
think about death, but not nearly in the capacity I used to. She
wants a firearm for the same reason: protecting us from
potential intruders. Police are incredibly unreliable. They will
not seek out someone who breaks into your home, especially if
they crossed county lines. Imagine if that person stole
something money couldn't replace or hurt your spouse. Man, I'm
not a Republican by any means, but I've been looking into a
firearms license for a while.
Now, it's not easy to get a firearms license in Georgia. You
have to pay a fee, have a judge consider you, pass a background
check, and it takes a little over 30 days. That's before you can
purchase a firearm, and you have to take a class for a concealed
carry license afterward if you plan on transporting your weapon
without it being in plain sight.

My British friend, kindly allow that Bucky and his Missus were
threatened by a violent man. Were your Lennon threatened like
that, what would you stop at to save him?
There is nothing wrong with Bucky, nothing at all. I own guns. 2
small caliber rifles for target shooting, a muzzle loader for
fun, and a shotgun for intruders.
I guess there's something wrong with me as well...But I'd shoot
anybody that was threatening the ones I love.
