I hear tell you're an expert on FX and pedals. Why haven't you
graced us with your knowledge, sexy sir?

We all want more Bieke...
I've noticed Bieke, that whenever anyone at HC (Meaning Mods)
starts crowing about site growth, you are right there with the
facts to prove them wrong. I don't keep up with any of that
stuff at all. I usually don't wander too far from Craig
Anderton's forum though.
Given Gibson's financial troubles, I can't see HC even being
there that much longer.....And you're dead right about spammers
ruling the day over there.

Ha. The Mods appear delusional when they deny the forum's
decline. Man, if there's a classic example of Napolean complex,
you won't find a better example than most forum moderators in
general.

also, it just so happens that Bart "Discofreq" who is running
effectsdatabase.com is living nearby
he is one of the biggest FX collectors (has about 4000 pedals I
believe) and he is so kind to let me try out anything I fancy
we also did a couple of workshops together, on vintage FX
and every once in a while I write a review for FXdatabase

and now for your entertainment, my top 10 list of vintage fuzzes
10
well, it's vintage of course, and a one trick pony
it doesn't like chords, it doesn't like low notes, it is by no
means perfect
switch it on, step down and there you have it
a beautiful bees in a can fuzz sound
Allegedly, it is similar to the Shin-ei FY-6, National Tr. 8,
Univox Superfuzz, Acetone FM-2, Royal Fuzz, Kay Fuzztone F-1 or
the Unicord Superfuzz
but as is often the case with these oldies, they all sound
different
here it is the Uecks Fuzz Tone

9
another pinnacle of sixties fuzziness, that still holds its own
nowadays
Japanese heritage
it was sold under a number of brand names, such as Jax, Apollo
and Kimbara but was designed by the same company that made the
Univox Super-Fuzz.
Again, not for purists, it is just a great sixties fuzz
the notorious
Shin-ei fuzz

8
again from the sixties, the golden fuzz era
It was made by at least five different companies over the years,
in versions which used different transistors and capacitor
values, so again, so there is no consistency from one to another
compact, nifty design
housed in a small box with a jack which plugged directly into
the guitar (Strat players cannot use this fuzz) and featured two
knobs for Level and Attack and an on/off switch.
it's the Jordan Bosstone
sorry for the fuzzy pic

7
an important number, so this has to go to something vintage and
fuzzy
even if it is gooped
allegedly, almost similar to the Mosrite FuzzRite, another fine
sixties fuzz
designed by Ed Sanner of Mosrite anyhow
it's raunchy, it's not a Rosac
but here is the Sierra Nu-Fuzz
