I have to confess, about that asshole Xiem (thing that's his
name). The Catholic family with the sister in law asshole. It
sounds like a Netflix original series. Anyway, after he
negotiated stepping away in exchange for guarantee of safe
passage out. An armored car picks him up. And shortly after he's
shot in the head. I found myself thinking "yay". Why did we
always seem to support oppressors and ignore opportunities to
try democracy. Maybe they were afraid of the Communist domino
thing.
I dunno.

They were afraid of everything Dave. LBJ did more for the people
of his country than any President since FDR....But he had no
foreign policy chops at all...And had terrible advisors. William
Westmoreland should have been court martialed for his
ineptness, and his lies. McNamara finally copped to his
mistakes...But too late for at least 58,000 American
boys......And that's just the dead ones. That doesn't count all
the walking wounded...Nor the 1,000,000+ Viernamese.

Yes the Vietnamese;
Westy's infamous line about them.

What an asshole.....All he cared about was his own rep.
Every episode I watch, I wonder even more how so many learned
men, could make so very many mistakes, on so many different
issues.
The extent of deceit is simply incredible. Not a lot of what is
being revealed is exactly new to me. I've not been asleep the
last 40 years. But to have all of this back, in a fluid,
timeline....Well it pisses me off and saddens me all over again.
It also makes me turn a freshly jaundiced eye towards anything
coming out of the State department concerning our military
actions around the planet.

The more episodes I watch, the more depressed I get.
I think perhaps our Government has been lying to us since we won
independence from the previous Government, that was lying to us.
