This is rapidly sweeping though countries currently in winter
(not sure about places like Korea though). How will Thailand and
other tropical / currently summer countries fare?

They're stopping the Test&Go scheme, it will be back to 14 (?)
days quarantine.
An utter disaster for the tourism industry and it won't halt the
spread of omicron.

Just when it looks like things were turning a corner, another
variant comes along. I guess if ppl in Thailand have improvised
this long, they can go forever. There's nobody waiting this out
anymore i wouldn't think. Most of the farang businesses must
have been shuttered months ago.

I heard on the radio Phuket is the only area now free from
quarantine restrictions being reinposed. So I guess you'd want
to fly straight into there which shouldn't be too hard (maybe)
as it is an international airport

Omicron is highly infectious, but it"s quite a 'mild' strain as
far as hospitalisation goes.
I reckon COVID is here to stay, with constant mutations and
adjusted booster vacs every year, just like the flu.

I've got a feeling this is how the common cold started way back
when - it was first a dangerous coronavirus then mutated to
become more & more infectious and less & less severe. Eventually
covid will simply become another strain of common cold.

I have an update on the doctor I know who refused to take a
covid vaccine. She was put on leave for a month and told to
think about it. Nothing happened so as of 2 weeks ago her
employment was terminated by the hospital (here in Australia)
I will be meeting her tomorrow for a Xmas get together so it
will be interesting what her next move will be as I know no
hospital that will employ her without a covid vaccine. She did
join a class action against the Govt Health Dept mandating
vaccines for it workers but that came to nothing. Her lawyers
raised the white flag, took the money and ran

I've had three shots myself, but am strictly against compulsory
vaccination.
It's coming in Germany for the medical services now and I expect
a number of healthcare workers to quit their jobs because of it
- it's like the last straw in overworked, underpaid
circumstances.
...and what about the fecking patients I visit at home, do they
need to be vaccinated or wear face-mask?
Feckin NO!

I've had 2 shots. i got sick as hell a day after the vaccine and
its been a week and i still feel under the weather. I got the
vaccine just so i could go skating still. I got the vaccine
passport now. But it seems like they will keep moving the
goalposts. 4 shots will be compulsory before know it.
The NHL has cancelled a bunch of hockey games again. Fuck is
this stuff getting tiring.

It’s being reported that as of today 43% of the Covid cases in
Bangkok are omicron, also a couple who returned from Belgium and
tested negative at Suvanabhumi before easing positive two days
later, have now infected 22 other people in Kalasin with
omicron, that they know of.
