Retiring from forums

I started using ajarnforum in 2002, which is a heck of a long
time ago. Having used it then others for the best part of two
decades, I've no desire to continue using them into a third
decade i.e. into the 2020s. This will therefore be the final
month I go anywhere near a Thai forum, and probably any forum.
They're old hat, and nothing like the novelty they once were.
It's one of several new decade resolutions I've planned.
What are your forum use plans?

I started using TVF in 2002 (not being a TEFLer, I never got
into Ajarn Forum) and when George shit-canned the Bear Pit
forums, shifted over there. Then came Teak Door and posters like
Flaps/Pee Wee/Ant and all his shit-stirring BS.
Suffice to say, interest has steadily waned primarily due to
over zealous Mods focused on political correctness. The
occasional post on TVF to counter the OTT TDS posters there will
be sufficient.

I've used TD for 13 years in a never changing obsessive,
sneering and confrontational manner. Take a look at my countless
snide trivial humourless attempts to get the better of blackgang
back then and you'll find no difference from my countless snide
trivial humourless attempts to get the better of rpeters today.
I've tried to leave a number of times, even vowed to, and hoped
that my new job would be more interesting than my old job so I
could stop, but like a spineless addicted smoker I keep
returning to it.
I'll carry on during the 2020s in exactly the same way. My
existence is a lonely isolated tedious rut of endless misery
disillusionment and regret, and I can't cope without this
opportunity for egotistical oneupmanship plus the delusion of
having a social life and interesting people to talk with at
work.

I don't think Ill retire from forums as I'm gobsmacked but also
intrigued by the number of childish losers that participate, the
lives of these people seem to be so plain boring. The forums
really are a soap opera you can actively participate in
The only thing letting the forums down are the incompetent admin
and modding, not this one of course

Indeed. That's always been the appeal for me - the interactive
freakshow where you can prod and laugh at the exhibits. The
likes of the TD mods are too wary and paranoid these days
though, and instantly zap those who successfully ridicule their
sado longtermers when said sados reach for their report post
button as a self esteem defence mechanism.

Nor was I a TEFLer. I stumbled across it in 2002 while
researching ways to spend a year or three working in Thailand. I
did a bit of private tutoring but not English. My main
ajarnforum activity was teasing and exposing the tefl school
shills.
I used that forum for less than two years, then took a couple of
years off forums, then discovered TD in late 2005, joining
shortly afterwards. I stopped using it in early 2009 when I left
Thailand but was tempted back a month or so later by the receipt
of an email from an oddball freak who was clearly missing me and
wanted to tell me that his narcissist rage from being teased and
embarrassed by me had made him stalk down my photo and CV and
post them.
That led to a fascinating decade of abnormal psychology and
personality disorder observations....

I won't be replacing forums with facebook. I very rarely open
Zuckerberg's forum (which is basically what facebook is, albeit
using real names instead of profiles) these days.
A lot of people seem to spend hours per day on forums and
facebook instead of focusing on reality these days. That's
pretty foked up and suggests escapism from tedium and misery.
I've never been one of them, but the 10-15 minutes per day I do
spend will become zero.

Facebook, or as it's more and more becoming, Fascistbook is
downright 'antaarai' maak. Very dangerous re. privacy.

But your staying with this forum, right Smeg?
I hope so.
As for my current and future forum plans be they Thailand
related or any forum. I'm rarely on them anymore.

Doesn't mean you have to abandon forums altogether just because
everyone else does
