       Gone WFPB

So I've switched over to a whole foods, plant based diet..
I know many of you are cringing for those who like to eat meat.
       :P
I am mostly eating whole foods like fruits, veggies, nuts,
seeds, legumes and complex starchy carbs like sweet potatoes,
brown rice. I am eliminating oil as most people get too much oil
in their diets. I get my good fats from foods like seeds, nuts
and avocados. It isn't an easy way to eat, but it has been a
week for me now and I am so busy cooking and preparing stuff to
       eat. I realize I'll need to take a B12 substitute as I can't get
it from food if I'm a vegan. I have cut out dairy and sugar as
well. This isn't a diet, it is a lifestyle change and one I
intend to keep. It is mostly for health reasons, but I'm sure
I'll lose weight and lower my BP, Cholesterol over time as well.
       Wish me luck! :)
You can read more about the benefits and science behind it here.

Vitamin B-12 and B-9 are important. If you’ve gone full
vegetarian then you’ll need to supplement both with pills.
They’re pretty cheap and easy to buy.

I don't agree. There's not much healthy about it.
The thing I couldn't give up that is superhealthy is salmon and
other oily fish. Fish oil is far superior to seed oil - even
chia, which I also eat every day (soaked overnight). It's
difficult to get a good omega 3 balance as a vegan.

Add oily fish to that and change the brown rice to riceberry and
you'll be mimicking my diet for the past eight years.

Thanks Begbie, ill definitely keep that in mind.
I was thinking of going full vegetarian, but I may add in a bit
of fish and become pescatarian. It would be a good way to get my
       omega 3's.

I agree with you on eating salmon to get omega 3's. I also love
       salmon.
Thanks for the link on riceberry. I've never heard of it. I
wonder if I can get that here in the Asian food stores. I went
into a big Asian food store here the other day and was happy to
see so many fruits/veggies that I saw overseas. They even had a
huuuge durian. I have never tried Durian before.
That is so cool that you have been doing this diet for eight
years, wow! I'd be interested to hear what you eat in a day?
I just finished making homemade hummus with no oil. I also
bought a kambocha squash which is also called Japanese pumpkin
and roasted that up both in the oven and in my air fryer. I now
have some stuff made up for the week.

Not really, it is a choice. I hadn't eaten much cheese in a long
time as it is hard to just have a little bit. It is way too
good, so I just stopped eating it. The only cheese I will miss
is Feta. I also barely ever had milk, just a bit of cream in my
coffee. Now, I've switched over to soy milk or coconut milk in
my coffee. Dairy is known to be inflammatory and best to keep
out of the diet. They sell coconut yogurt and non dairy yogurts
       I may try eventually.

Durian is wonderful. We'll buy one every weekend during the
       current durian season.
I don't eat the same thing every day of course. Only weirdos and
their "chicken surprise" do that. What you call wholefoods I
call food. Anything else, I call crap, not food. Eat crap, look
       crap. It's a simple philosophy that I didn't understand a decade
ago when my waist had become 6" larger than it was in my 20s.
Most people never snap out of that slow decline in health.
As for foods, it's loads of veg, some fruit but not every day
(fructose isn't healthy) including regular somtam, pulses such
as mung beans, nuts such as macadamias, seeds such as chia
sunflower & pumpkin, healthy fish & prawns, riceberry, oatbran,
kimchi, eggs, and of course, olives.
