But HK (and Singapore) were the model for China's economic
development. Can it lead the way again and reinvent itself?

It's difficult to predict how things will turn out. I really
enjoyed my visit there earlier this year, my first got nearly a
decade. It's easy to blame the brits for having instilled
western ideologies on the people there, but had it never been
colonised it would probably be little more than a few villages
now, as would Shenzhen.
