Stone Age, Iron Age, Oil Age

This era will be remembered as the Oil Age, a time in human
evolution when it became obsessed with energy & transportation.
I wonder what the next Age will be.

I think eventually there'll be a proper nuclear age. We will
build advanced nuclear reactors. Small and large.

^OK if we dump all that nuclear waste in your back yard?
We’re moving into the electric age of renewables.

Yes perhaps the Oil Age will simply be a subheading of the
broader Energy Age. When you think about how long the stone age
and iron age latest, the 150 year oil age is (thankfully)
incredibly short.
It's also the first few decades of the Digital Information Age

Nuclear waste is a big over hyped scare story. There's a reason
why big oil pumps billions into solar and wind. And also pump
billions into anti nuclear agitprop. Solar and wind are not a
threat. Nuclear is

That’s just daft. The reason no one wants to invest in Nuclear
is that it’s about ten times as expensive as renewables. A minor
contribution is needed for electric grid security but that’s it.

Nuclear: Huge expense in decommissioning, everything is so toxic
(sounds like teakdoor 555). Look at Chernobyl, 1 reactor blew
up, one or 2 out of service, 1 or 2 still going? What a
mess...when poor countries inherit legacy power stations or
can't afford to do anything else
Renewables: Huge expense in infrastructure. Yes it's cheap to
make a coastal wind farm making gigawatts of power but the cost
to bring that power to the city is immense - substations, high
voltage power lines, irate farmers

Phuket's only windmill has been out of service for months. The
dopey clowns probably only allocated enough budget for the
installation, with none left for maintenance & spare parts.

We had enquiries from Thailand about 18 months ago. I don't
think we won the contract. I wanted to recommend you as an
interpreter if things went ahead. If that's okay with you of
course ;)

That sounds like work, something I didn't do since my 40s :)
This author thinks it's been there almost 30 years, which seems
unlikely
