Is it Game Over for Chiang Mai?

I can't see the locals ever getting on top of the Smokey Season,
and who wants to live somewhere where you're choked and poisoned
for several months and then fried by 40C temps for two more
months. Yes it's cheap and has hill tribes, but so what?

The Smokey seasons lasts about six weeks and its only usually
noticeable for a few weeks and its usually really bad for a week
or so , it does get hot during the summer months 41 degrees ,
but just stay out the sun between 11 am & 2 PM
The main problem seems to be that BKK clamps down on CM
because its a Red Shirt area and the BKK Yellows' want to keep
CM surprised

How do the Yellows keep CM surprised and how is that the main
problem?

That combination of smoke, humidity and being inland so far just
makes me wonder why anyone is up there at all
