Our Health

At my annual eye exam, the ophthalmologist said I have dry eyes
and should get artificial tears as a treatment. For several
months now I've been tearing quite a bit such that I have to
carry a tissue with me always to prevent tears rolling down both
cheeks. He said I have mild allergies also contributing in part
to the excessive watering. So, he also recommended daily eye
washes.
Several such eye drop brands have been recently recalled for
causing a pseudomonas infection that in some cases resulted in
death, so some research is in order. :o
Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so what you
do. Home remedies would be most welcome!

I can't be of much help, Bev, I use Optrex sometimes if my eyes
feel dry or sore.
I'm surprised the ophthalmologist didn't advise you what to buy.
I suggest you speak to your nearest pharmacist, they often give
good advice about such things.

He did give me a printout that suggested drops with no
preservatives.
Odd thing that excessive tearing would be a symptom of dry eyes.
:D

Not at all. Tears are dehydrating and they are salty.
I hope it improves, Beverly.

Bev, I’d check with a pharmacist and ask if plain saline would
suffice. If so, you could even make it at home as it’s just salt
and distilled water. You would just need to ensure all bottles
etc are thoroughly sterile beforehand x
