True enough Lyn the people you mentioned are ones without belief
in God. I would add that the evidence for such a belief is
overcome by the evidence for belief in God. The conflict between
Science and Religion started with Charles Darwin. The greatest
man of Science and mathematics of the earlier, 17th century was
a believer in God who saw no conflict between Science and his
       religious beliefs, Isaac Newton.
As you will know I have a reference source for my post. It is
Stephen C.Meyer's book, entitled Return of the God Hypothesis..

I point out now that Stephen C. Meyer worked as a geophysicist
doing seismic-digital processing for an oil company in Dallas,
Texas. And so he has a science profession. Later he received a
PhD after completing his thesis at the University of Cambridge
on the subject of origin-of-life biology. He is well qualified
to enter into the discussion of controversies re-Science and
       religious belief.

This is the latest on the Catholic religion front here in
       Ontario.
It is all about the YCDS Board voting not to fly the Pride
flag. Reason:It goes against Catholic values.

Thank you for that Lyn, but I disagree because LGBT values are
not Catholic values, for this reason, they openly advocate
sexual sin, for example in parades. They speak as if school
children were at risk of bullying because they considered
themselves one of LGBT, when that is untrue. They push their
agenda and disagree with all who dare have a contrary opinion
from there's .I have heard of the homosexually active Fr.Martin
before, and he is in error.
Today, we were having coffee with a friend and she attended
Mass on Pentecost Sunday at All Saints Church. She said there
was a talk after Mass about giving to Share Life when the talker
was rudely interrupted by a man who stood up and yelled
obscenities at her. He did also say he was not going to listen
to this bullshit, then he walked out followed by another man. I
did say to our mutual friend that I have never heard or seen
that happen in a CathoLic Church before, ever. Things are going
       downhill rapidly.
Such behavior shows how militant the LGBT community have become,
       recently.

Many people, including me, have concerns about the current trans
agenda and what appears to be promoted to schoolchildren in some
quarters, Leslie, but Pride is basically gay people celebrating
their equality and rights after so many years of persecution.
They no longer have to hide in the shadows, can be openly gay,
form committed relationships and hold up their heads at last.
That I do support and it is a pity that fringe groups have
jumped on their bandwagon. They detract from the real meaning
and a lot are not even gay. I believe that trend won't last,
there are too many repercussions and much opposition.

I am going to see cyber friend for the first time tomorrow to
discuss religion. We have not met. I revised knowledge of the
soul. And I read that Etienne Gilson thinks or thought, that
Descartes, acknowledged only a kind of God that activated the
universe, and that it was a mechanistic universe. Descartes has
no need for God having anymore attributes than that. Kant and
Comte believed in a mechanistic universe.
I of course think that unlike the aforementioned people think
knowledge is not just empirical but comprises much more than
that. I don't limit God to the empirical, that would cut off
       much of what God is.

I do know that Descartes was Catholic although he seemed to
divide the spiritual aspects of his life from the material. Of
course he differed considerably from St.Thomas Aquinas in his
views, no doubt about that. I shall have to take out a couple of
my old, tattered, text books and scan and delve into the
contents before meeting and discussing, the nature of the soul
       this afternoon.
I will be home for dinner.
