Strange though how Hamas picked the same date of October 7th, I
doubt that it is accidental.

It's just as likely to do with the fiftieth anniversary of the
start of the Yom Kippur War, the surprise attack on Israel by
surrounding Arab states on October 6th, 1973. The Hamas attack
was probably delayed a day to coincide with the Jewish sabbath
on Saturday, October 7th, a public holiday when people's guard
is down.

Similarly, 9/11 was on the 28th anniversary of the murder of
Salvador Allende and the right-wing coup in Chile, which may or
may not be a coincidence.

It's just a coincidence as Islamist jihadis have clearly no
interest in the politics of South America which have no
religious overtones.

Bishop Strickland of Tyler ,Texas has been "fired". in my view
for being more Catholic than the Pope . How else can I put it,
there is no valid reason for his dismissal.His diocese was in
poor shape when Bishop Strickland took it on. It is in great
shape since he took over.

Well all Catholics should know him wherever they live as he is
one of the 'old guard' who along with many others upholds the
teaching of the Catholic Church .
EDIT
Bishop Strickland will I hope outlast Pope Frances, who cannot
last forever, and then things will return to normal.

Next Sunday we start Advent, a time of Penance in time for he
joy of Christmas. We got free calendars at church this Sunday
morning, one woman with two children cried two rows in front of
us at the 9:30 am Mass. She was comforted by a woman in front of
her who gave her a Kleenex and talked quietly to her.
Yes, we are carrying on as usual as if nothing happened.
