       Morning Leslie
Thsi was not an attack on the Catholic Church, Pope Francis even
admitted their part in that awful scheme of abuse in those
       baording schools
You started thsi with your tearing up a collection evnelope for
the Healing & Reconciliation for the Indigenous peoples of
Canada and they way they were treated..
All Catholics are not responsible for this, but denying it
happened is an insult to the memory of those who suffered and
       died
I put this on the same category as all deniers

This does not cover the semi-opaques of stockings

The Truth and Reconciliation report is anything but the truth.
The government asked churches, mainly Catholic to run these
schools for them, which good nuns and priests did. The
government was responsible for food delivery and medical means.
Many died of tuberculosis. Some indigenous children say they are
grateful for the education they received. Others complain in
order to get a sum of money.
The collection last Sunday was not necessary. What is necessary
is the change in the Indian Act. Throughout it all the
government has refused to take the blame.

Well we don’t know how good the Nuns and Priests were, but, we
do know that in some schools at least 25% of children died
within the first few years of arriving at the schools and in one
school 65% of the children died from undernourishment and
       hardship which led to disease.
True the Government didn’t provide adequate funding but there
was enough to feed the children, not one of the good Nuns or
Priests died from hardship or lack of nourishing food.
I don’t get your reference to the Indian Act,, which brought
into power in 1876, The Indian Act was created to control and
assimilate Indigenous peoples and their communities using
whatever means that was required this only ended in 1985
To be fair the Catholic Church ran over 60% of the residential
schools the rest was run by the Anglican Church of Canada,
Presbyterian Church in Canada, United Church of Canada, in 2015
the above organisations expressed regret for the
       “well-documented” abuses.
The Catholic Church has never offered an official apology, (
other than Pope Francis) something that Canadian authorities
       have repeatedly asked for

How do you know there was enough to feed the children. And
students did die of tuberculosis which was rampant as they had
no immunity to it. White people did have some immunity. Again
the government was responsible for food and medicine.
Again you attack the church without reason for the deaths of
some students. It is very cold in winter and food must be brought
in before winter as nothing grows in winter. That is the
government's responsibility. Nuns and priests devoted their
lives to the indigenous in their care. They were not paid for
       their teaching.

Last Sunday I lost a dear friend of many years, a gentleman and
hard worker who always had time to talk or offer help in times
       of need.
I went to his funeral mass this morning a full singing, with
hymns and singing, there were two priests and a professional
female singer with an angelic voice, it was all very moving, his
2 sons talked about their dad and how kind, caring good a father
and husband he was, I was very surprised at the amount of people
who received holy communion young and old and older, I spoke
with his sons and heartbroken wife and I told them how he
influenced my choice many years ago and he definitely made a
difference to my life and through that advice and mentoring he
made a difference to my family, he will be well remembered and
that I believe is why he will be remembered for a long time.
But I just wanted to say that when you die in the Catholic faith
and once the funeral ends you know without any doubt that you
are dead, Catholics do death very well

At Mass this morning I learned that there was an ancient Jewish
tradition that the eldest son gets more of the inheritance than
others in his family, that the reason for this is because it is
his duty to look after this parents as they age. This is the
background to the gospel message of the day explained in the
priest's homily. Today our priest called "the French priest" who
was brought up in Lebanon replaced our parish priest at All
       Saints, who was away.

Hamas, I think was trying to get their own back against the
Jewish-Christian heritage we possess by scheduling the attack on
innocent Israelis on 7th October, it happens to be the
anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto which took place on the
same day in 1571, when superior Islamic forces attacked
Christian countries, and were by the power of the Rosary
defeated at the gates of Vienna by a Polish King.
These dates are I believe chosen by Hamas. They are not
       accidental.

Correction, Leslie. The Battle of Lepanto was a sea battle
between the forces of the Catholic Holy League and those of the
Muslim Ottoman Empire in 1571 while the victory of Catholic
forces led by Polish King John Sobieski against those of the
besieging Ottoman Turks took place in 1683. Two great victories
against the warriors of Islam and hopefully another is in the
       offing.
