Leslie: "...at least one didn't have the pension I had coming
monthly".
How on earth did you know that?

An educated guess, he told me after the others had left who he
worked for as a handy man at a Community College. He said I
have to walk to file my tax return to Prince Edward Drive which
is half km away or more from near the corner of Bloor and Royal
York. He had a walking stick as I did. I told him about my tax
refund, and he said he doesn't pay any taxes but he still files.
I forgot to tell him that you don't have to file an annual
return in such cases.
One lady; retired , gave me an biscuit . Another lady was
Catholic and worked at St.Joseph's hospital before retirement.
The strike didn't seem to bother them.
EDIT
The reason he files a tax return must be to get a refund as part
of his property taxes or rent paid at his home from the
Provincial Government, which is determined (in a mysterious
manner :) )

That link took me to all sorts of news items! However I did
read the relevant one at the top.
Honestly, it's not as if Trudeau had gone to the other side of
the world, in an emergency he could be back in no time. The
flight from Ottawa to Washington is 1hr 37mins.
There's little about that trip in the media, however I did find
this:
HTML https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/trudeau-urged-to-make-good-on-critical-mineral-commitments-during-new-york-city-visit-1.6372539
He's coming here next week for the Coronation on Saturday, 6th
May.
From your link, it appears that people in Canada have much the
same moans as people here and in other countries regarding the
economy, cost of living, etc.

I haven't heard about Rishi Sunak taking a trip anywhere
recently but I doubt anyone would complain if he went to Wales
or Scotland on an official visit for a day or two; I doubt we'd
even know about it! It's a 1 hour 20 minute flight from London
to Edinburgh. Train from London to Cardiff is between 1 hour 51
minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes depending on whether or not it is
a 'fast' train.

Apart from saying Trudeau couldn't operate a chicken house if he
had to - At present Toronto Maple leafs is playing Tampa
Lightnings in Toronto, and the score is one ,one.

Many years ago a successful businessman, whose name I forget,
ran for POTUS, and he said something similar about his political
opponents.
It fits the character of Trudeau, who cannot govern without
spending 11.8 billion $'s on consulting fees (Globe and Mail
estimate). I would rather see a carpenter with ideas on how to
live and for the benefit of the people of Canada run the country
. He would be from the lower middle class ideally and have a
Christian religion. Such a person would use the talents of his
public service, who are trained specifically in such matters ,
and take advice from them.
The carpenter would say what he wanted and the public service
experts would tell him or her how to achieve the objectives.
That would be ideal democratic government in action. ...don't
hold your breath as it is unlikely to happen in my lifetime.

People will moan about prime ministers and presidents (and other
government members), regardless of which political party they
are from. I've never known one in this country who hasn't
garnered complaints and doubt it is any different in other
countries.

This is serious. I am not moaning. Trudeau has ruined this
country .
