Understanding the words in Latin in the Mass Bev is of course
important. And that is why one is provided with a written
translation into English, French, Italian or German when
listening to the Mass in England, France, Italy, of Germany. As
long as the congregation can read their native language they
       have no problem in understanding.
The beauty of Latin attracts me. I would rather listen to the
hymn 'Oh Salutaris Hostia' and 'Tantum Ergo' at the start
/finish of the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament than follow
it in an English translation. Latin does not change its meaning
with the passage of time as does English. I believe one of them
was written by St Thomas Aquinas himself in the 13th century, in
       Latin.
Also, the vernacular of the Novus Ordo (modern Mass of today) is
plain and ordinary and some think badly written and lacks
       beauty.

I too like the sound of Latin and always loved "Agnus Dei qui
tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis" and "Dona nobis pacem"
(hope I have spelled all that right, it's been a long time since
I've written or even seen it). However it is all very beautiful
       and atmospheric.
Beverly, the priest does not give his homily, nor are the Bible
readings, in Latin at a Latin Mass.

Tucker Carlson has been fired by Murdoch from Fox News.
Here is what he said back in 2021 about Canada. Everything
Tucker said about Trudeau is correct.

Lest we forget at election time, assuming we have one.

Thank you both for your replies. It's especially important that
the bible readings be in the local language of the people. For
years, I've listened to the Pope's midnight mass on Christmas
Eve and agree that it is beautiful.
On Tucker Carlson, based on his testimony during the Dominion
Trial, one can't believe anything he says as he's on record
saying the opposite off mic. He is the perfect example of
political spin in the media. I don't trust anyone who is merely
       pandering to his audience.

Maybe you can't Bev, but I live here in Canada and I know what
Tucker says about Canada and Trudeau is correct. No one else in
the USA said it, not Biden or his aides or the CNN as far as I
can tell. it needed to be said. Let us hope we Canadians
remember at election time and throw Trudeau out.
I had to get vaccinated against my will twice to leave by plane,
before his 'majesty' would allow me to seek sunny skies down
south in Florida. He froze bank accounts (not mine) but of
truckers and their known supporters. He refused to speak with
truckers in Ottawa. He pretended we under invasion from an alien
force, and put us under military rule by invoking an Emergency
Act. He acted like the China loving dictator he is. His true
       colours came forth.

It's interesting that this pro-Russian voice of the alt-right
has left Fox News after the $787.5 million defamation
settlement, in which he played a significant causative part.
Also, by coincidence, CNN anchor Don Lemon has been fired after
17 years simply for making some frankly not very sexist remarks
       on air. Network nerves?

What is truly frightening is what Trudeau has done to Canada,
apart from what I said in my previous post, Trudeau gave us
marijuana on demand, euthanasia under the deceptive term MAID,
(Medical assistance in dying). Tucker Carlson simply spoke the
       truth about Canada.

Whatever. Tucker Carlson hardly affects us or you and has nowt
to do with Trudeau though he does have a documentary in the
pipeline which you will no doubt devour:

Coincidentally there was a lot about Mr Carlson on our TV news
last night and a fair bit in the newspapers today though I have
only seen the headlines so far. Apparently he has been offered
a job with Russian state TV! Well that is a result :D.

The federal PSAC strikers are not getting much sympathy
according to our media. I was in a coffee shop speaking to
people there and they are non committal to those media views,
which leads one to doubt if they are true. I know the people I
discussed this with were all retired, and that at least one
didn't have the pension I had coming monthly. I took a chance by
talking to strangers, I know. I could have started a vociferous
argument, but nothing happened like that.
The problem is that the private sector is not paying a living
wage. I remember a time in Canada when a man could keep his wife
at home and afford to buy a house, and have more children than
they have today.I am not opposed to a wife having another job at
all. The employers are getting rich at the families expense.
I have a solution to this to be declared later.
