You've got the wrong end of the stick, Leslie. I was simply
responding to Lyn's post to clarify certain matters in relation
to that and do I know what mainly causes forest fires, thanks
very much. Have you considered the rest of my post and
contemplated a response, such as whether fires should go on the
Our Weather thread and the nature of news reporting? Probably
not. (Have you even read all my post and thought about it?)

Of course I have and I think you confuse Cause and Effect
here.The cause of bad weather is the forest fires, and the
Weather is the Effect of that Cause, namely cloudy skies, smog
and 'particulants' circulating in the atmosphere.

I'm not confusing anything, Leslie, and I've discussed cause and
effect in this case at reasonable length. Also, there are other
aspects in my post (eg. the content of the Our Weather thread,
etc.) which you've ignored. I suspect that you haven't really
seriously considered some of the things I've said which might be
worthy of a response, surely the responsibility of each of us.
As for your last post, it's evident that it's you that is
totally confused. You're talking about some bad weather as a
result of forest fires when what we've been discussing all along
is vice versa, the kind of weather which can result in forest
fires. We're clearly not on the same page...

This trivial discussion centered around what Our Weather thread
was supposed to contain and your position is that it should not
contain Forest Fires . I think it should contain Forest Fires
and details of Forest Fires, and the smog, and damage to humans
etc that forest fires cause. Smog being the effect and forest
fires being the cause. The cause of forest fires includes
lightning due to rain and those started by humans. Greg says the
weather is the cause of forest fires. From that view point, what
then is the cause of the weather that produces forest fires? And
when you find it, what will be the cause of that? How far back
in Cause and Effect do you want to go? To the Supreme Cause of
all things?
So far we have -starting at the very top God, A Cause, and
Effect, followed by another Cause and Effect, and so on ad
infinitum.

Oh dear, we seem to have strayed into irrelevant philosophical
territory and no idea what kind of weather Thomas Aquinas
experienced in southern Italy in the thirteenth century,
although he may have attributed it to some local first cause,
like lowering thunder clouds.

Advance Voting Day yesterday and today, and you can go to any
open polling station, if you can find one. We were given two for
Advanced poll only and the closest one was the Richview Library,
our local library. The parking lot was practically full and I
had to walk over 100 yards, with my walking stick, dodging cars
to get in. Once there I found the library busy and we had to
walk to the far end, down two flights of steps to another
library section, then to cross the children's section to a door
guarded by a Pathan tribesman from the Khyber Pass. Inside , few
spoke English and I was asked twice in less than a minute to
show ID. I said to the last person , 'I have just shown ID ' she
could see that. Then an old lady beat me in a race to the place
where you voted. I waited, then a space was vacant and I took
it. The lady who raced me to the next station was still there.
There were about 100 contestants for Mayor of Toronto, and I
guess she didn't know who to vote for. I voted number 84 on the
list, Mark Saunders the black ex police chief for law and order
.If elected Mayor of Toronto he will stop expansion of bike
lanes on Bloor street West, west of Royal York opposite my
Catholic Church, Our Lady of Sorrows. Bike lanes are only used
four months a year, yet they block car traffic to two lanes from
four lanes, and bike lanes are permanently constructed.
Ms Chow is the leader for Mayor in the polls, Mike Saunders is
second. Heaven help us if Chow is elected. She can't speak
English properly, she will raise taxes, and increase bike lanes,
plus more 'safe' spaces for drug 'addicts' to inject, plus more
2SLGBT+ flags and parades.
And so I am glad I voted ;D

Here is Ms Chow in discussion on CBC; her English is fine, she
is easily understandable and that is coming from someone who
does speak very good English. I wonder who told you she
doesn't.

She only spoke one sentence that you heard, not enough. I ask ,
who paid for the polls showing Chow to be in the lead from the
very beginning? Let me guess: the big unions of course.
Her NDP policies I already mentioned. Her tax increases and
appeals for help to Ford and Trudeau for funds is next on the
agenda. What I worry about is the property tax increases. Chow
will throw money around like Trudeau does. She will destroy
Toronto by introducing Vancouver type drug policies which led to
the destruction of down town East side, Vancouver.
Researchers with Cardus issued a report last month showing that
1.65 billion in infrastructure construction in Toronto is
subject to closed tendering, which means only certain unionized
companies can bid. The National Post says that the city of
Hamilton ended its closed tendering regime by limiting bids to
unionized shops it was overpaying for construction by around
27%. It has been suggested that this years Toronto's taxpayers
(property tax) are overpaying for construction by around $350
million.
I have had some experience with unions, both good and bad.

Ms Chow spoke two sentences, the second one longer than the
first. Her english is perfectly understandable, whatever else
you may have against her (and I have not researched her fully so
don't know much about her), to say she cannot speak English
properly is ridiculous. Many native English speakers are almost
incomprehensible at times.
I would still like to know who told you the woman couldn't speak
English properly, or where you read it, Leslie.
Other than that, from quick scan of your above post, I am glad
of your good and bad experiences, you know your onions!
