Princess Anne is my favorite Royal. I like her style of
       operating in public visits.

Yes, she certainly has a regal affect.
However I do think she is happy in life and has always enjoyed a
       lot of freedom.

When I got up this morning I looked for the Alberta election
results from the CTV And CBC TV news, but there was nothing on
about that. Surely I thought they must have counted the votes by
       now.
Then I thought the UCP under Premier Smith must have won. I was
right. If the NDP had won, there would have been jubilation in
the press core who are 99% very left wing. Balloons would have
been released and booze would have flown freely to all and
sundry. We are blessed (or otherwise) with a very secular,
press. Oil, is the backbone of what is the richest Canadian
Province, Alberta. Without Oil and natural gas there will be a
lowering of the standard of living, which is the highest in
       Canada.
Premier Smith threatened separation from Canada in the past .
She does intend in her victory speech to wage war on Trudeau by
emphasizing Provincial rights over federal rights, something not
done in the past. But when an idealist like Trudeau goes too
far by imposing new taxes on gasoline, and in trying to reduce
production of Canadian oil, what can one expect? The people of
Alberta ,support Smith and the conservatives, they want to keep
their good paying jobs. Good luck to them.

--- Quote from: Leslie link ---
       >
       > The last one I wrote about Tim Hortons advertising bringing
back two popular lines of donuts for ..wait for it .. Donut Day
, has disappeared . Oh joy. Heaven on earth is here again!
       >
       --- End Quote ---
We called at Tim's last week , way in the country towards 'Up
North' as I call it. My wife dropped the coffee when the lid
came off, And when I was enjoying a "Boston Cream" donut. I
mentioned it to the staff and they cleaned it up, and gave us a
free coffee, and unlike McDonalds we had brown paper wrappers
       too.
A Young Uniformed OPP (police officer) came in too and was
cheerfully welcomed, by customers in line too, as well as a
       smiling young server.
We had heard the news of yet another OPP officer being murdered
in the line of duty, usually in the country of Ontario. And are
all happy to see OPP officers .

At present I can't decide whether what I am going to write is
Canadian News or Chat news. My youngest grandson was asked to
start work in Toronto over couple of months ago, but declined
for family reasons*. He started last Monday near the Eaton
Centre where the company he works for has an office. So far all
I can get out of him via his mother is that he is 'planning' and
so busy he can't even travel down from his new residence 15
minutes from the job site in downtown Toronto to come and have
dinner with his mother or grandparents. We still have his
birthday gift waiting for him. He works for the same company he
worked for in Texas, there was no change in company of
employment. Planning cannot last for ever.
The other grandson working on the Fraser River project near
Vancouver is happy, but can only spare a weekend flight here at
the appropriate time. He too came from work in Texas early this
year to work for a different company.
Must acknowledge they are now fully grown up. Hope to hear of a
       girl friend or wedding soon.
       EDIT.
More likely a mixture of personal with family reasons. He took a
holiday in Mexico with his father, and then was driven to his
mother's home by his father where he did stay for a short time.
Both marital parties are on diplomatic speaking terms. Always a
       good sign.

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the forest fires in Canada,
some of which according to maps are in the Toronto region and
are causing problems with the air in New York and other areas
near there as the smoke drifts south. People are having
breathing difficulties and a singer (forget her name) had to
       cancel aconcert in New York.

I did mention it under "Weather" *Greg. To enlarge upon the
subject here. Today, here in Etobicoke, we have grey clouds and
rain. Up North our cottage photo session has been cancelled this
morning because of lightning and a forecast of 70% showers
today. Yesterday, on the trip down to St. Jacob's in S.W.
Ontario, we actually saw blue sky patches surrounded by grey
cloud. Coming home by bus at 6:30 pm. the grey cloud returned.
It had been raining on the cars in the Centennial Park N.E.
       Parking lot in Etobicoke.
It is not fog on the ground, just grey clouds practically
everywhere and no visible sun. It was getting dark in Etobicoke
at 6pm last night, when it should have been light until 9 pm.
The cause as the media is saying are many forest fires in
Alberta and of late in Quebec Province, and Nova Scotia. Nova
Scotia has never seen anything as bad before, ever. As to the
cause, that is a either unusual dryness for this time of the
year or -it remains, to me, anyhow, a mystery.
       EDIT
       * that should read "Our Weather".

We have firefighters from America, the Commonwealth countries,
France ,others, plus the Canadian Army helping put out fires.
So far I have not heard of any forest fires in Ontario -that is
       because we are Conservative! ;D
