The first meaning is 1. lay waste; cause great destruction to.
The second meaning of the word devastation, according to my
Canadian Oxford Dictionary is 2. (often in passive) overwhelm
with shock or grief; upset deeply.
Now, I was upset deeply and still am by the attitude of some
tech companies to interfere with what I see on my screen when I
don't want it. To me that is also devastation. I cannot read
your minds until you say, ( and now you have finally done so)
which of these two meanings you infer. You mean destruction of
buildings , earthquakes etc, so you need not tell me that again,
I got it the first time.
Also, I detect a note of bullying here and on my other thread
about the IDF in getting everyone to conform to one opinion
which I detest.

Nobody wants to bully you, Leslie, everyone likes you. Pointing
out that there are more appropriate threads or groups for a
particular discussion is not bullying and if more than one
person thinks so, it is worthwhile thinking about it, surely,
instead of stubbornly digging your heels in.
As the particular topic (Israel/Palestine), has been thoroughly
aired in the Breakout-Room, I cannot understand why you wanted
to post a separate thread on the same subject.
This is the chapel and there's no room for discord here.

One might ask what Devastation is doing in the Chapel since it
need not have anything to do with religion,There are collapsing
buildings, earthquakes, melting glacers, the decline of the
bumble bee and climate change caused by a forecasted increase
in temperature of 1.5 C, a hundred years from now, horror of
horror ! to worry over! ;D

Well, it seems as though you had no qualms about contributing to
the thread yourself and with a questionable form of devastation
