       I intend to learn how to play this game.  I had a look online
       earlier and could not make head nor tail of the instructions but
       will persevere.

       I looked at the instructions too but wasn't drawn to the game,
       bit too fiddly for my taste. I do like crosswords, though, which
       I play on various online newspaper sites as well as quizzes of
       various kinds (eg. Art and Literature; History; Current Affairs;
       General Knowledge; etc.)

       Lyn and Greg, start by guessing any five letter word. The next
       guess should eliminated letters not in the word and include any
       letters (in their right place will be green, yellow if not.)
       It's really a process of elimination. Here's a website you can
       practice on over and over that is not affiliated with the NYT's
       Wordle.
