It has been reported on TV that our Foreign Affairs Minister,
the (lovely to look at), Melanie Joly, called in the Chinese
Foreign Affairs diplomat to give him a dressing down, about
Chinese interference in Canada's election process.
She said, I looked deep into his eyes, ... And I am sure he was
intimidated . That must be the laugh of the day in the Chinese
Embassy.
Correction.
Melanie Joly was accused of saying the above by a Conservative
MP. I believe that MP is now accused of making a sexist remark.

Thanks Bev, My wife and I arrived home at 4:20 pm. I did not
need a wheel chair at Tampa even though I had ordered it. The
only place where a wheelchair needed was Pearson, and I had one
there. The most difficult part was getting up 41 crossing over
to 19...[/quote]
Was the difficulty traffic? On the 417 to I-4 route, the traffic
is just awful! Developers are outbuilding our roads here, and
it's really impacting all the roads in and around Orlando.
On the other, already forgotten.

To Reply 62 by Beverley.
The traffic from Bradenton, Cortez Road ,which goes East and
west , was reasonable, but going through Bradenton northwards on
41 towards highway 19 over a long bridge was worse. I believe
when we got to Highway 275 North we crossed over some long
beautiful bridges, over water,There were at least two more. I
wish I had taken photos, because the views of sea on both sides
from a towering bridge that rises in the middle gives you
spectacular views.
Eventually we reached, more by accident than design, a road to
Tampa International airport. You couldn't miss the road as every
twenty or so feet there were large airplanes drawn in white on
the road itself. Traffic slowed to a crawl at that point. The
distance from where we stayed five weeks, (near Cortez 34 West ,
and down a block near a man made lake ) to the airport was
approximately 50 to 55 miles.

I do remember seeing our Minister of Foreign Affairs on TV, The
(lovely to look at,) Melanie Joly "wandering lonely as a cloud"
at a meeting of the EU in Europe. I am sure I saw the German
lady, EU Rep, point to Melanie, and say to the Dutch Foreign
Minister, who was standing by her side, "Now, there is someone
you can go tiptoeing through the tulips with" .

At the 8.a.m. Mass this morning at OLS. Church, a modest number
attended, perhaps because we put the clocks forward an hour last
night, and they couldn't get up on time:understandable. The aged
priest , well past retirement age, overweight, carried a walking
stick, prayed Mass. He could not walk down the steps to receive
the hosts, so they were given to him at the altar.
He is the same priest who gave me my few Christmas cards last
year.He was sat down afterwards issuing prayer sheets to all who
walked by. Ursula, who gave communion said she was going to bake
him some sugar free cookies. If the priest ever felt unwell, he
need not worry, as Ursula was a retired nurse at St.Michael's
hospital, in downtown Toronto. And there was a doctor who was
sat in front of us in church. Fortunately, nothing happened.
But, we are short of priests.

I always give up booze for Lent. As everyone on this forum
probably knows, Mothering Sunday is a traditional day off from
Lent, and I thought that it was today, so I bought a bottle of
beer and two of cider to drink today, only to discover that
Mothering Sunday is next Sunday. However, rather than have the
bottles sitting on the larder shelf for a week, tempting me, I
decided to have my day off a week early, so I have drunk them
today, and also went to my local Wetherspoons pub for lunch and
a pint (Katsu grilled chicken curry and a pint of Black Dragon
Welsh cider).
In other news, I've just watched a documentary about the demise
and funeral of her late majesty, and confess that, republican
though I am, I got quite emotional at times. especially at a
shot of little Princess Charlotte, seven years old, bursting
into tears during the funeral. Whatever you think of the
institution, Her Maj. was a remarkable woman. It was, thank
heavens, a lot more dignified than the ridiculous scenes at the
funeral of Princess Diana, but of course it was very different:
that was the sudden, shocking, violent death of a young woman;
this was the peaceful and anticipated death of a very old lady.

I just noticed the Karma points thing, and I came in to say I
don't like this feature. The negative points are so unforgiving
and stays with the person long past whatever grievance provoked
it. If I were a newbie and considering joining, seeing all the
negative Karma points would quietly steer me away.
Just my two cents.

I understand what you mean. I think it is fairly easy to turn
this feature off in software of this nature. When Val has some
time perhaps he could have a look and see if it is possible and
then we could make a decision as to whether to keep it or not.
(If it is possible to turn off)!

I didn't know what this slang word meant until a few moments
ago. I think we should get rid of it.
