I am becoming convinced that some of the popular Catholic media
(certainly not all of it) is designed to strike fear into the
hearts of traditional Catholics. There is for example on
LifesiteNews Canada an article by Douglas Mainwaring on the
obliteration of sexual reproduction altogether by the elite, for
profit. Talk about being far fetched.
I will stop there or the subject matter will be in the wrong
section of Thaddeans.
My point is FEAR is being generated for profit. Is it??

On the subject of Education today.
I came across a cartoon of students in a classroom which
unfortunately I am not able to reproduce here .
A teacher just finishes his dialogue by saying to his students
in school.
"And that is why white Men are evil."
A student says to the student sitting behind him. " I think I am
in the wrong class.Which class is calculus?
Other student.
This is Calculus
Is this what is really going on today in schools?

I would think not, Leslie. Don't believe all you read,
including Lifesite news. The media distorts the reality of the
public sphere. Do you ever talk to people in real life about
such subjects? I think your children and grandchildren would
know more than any of us and keep you up to date.
This is fine for Chat, we can talk about anything here that
doesn't have a specific group.

I doubt if my grandchildren know anything at all about anything
but engineering technology. One of them , thank God didn't even
watch tv when in Dallas/Forth Worth. They earned good money but
they had to work hard to get it and had no time for tv or
Twitter.I sometimes watch comments on Twitter.
The answer is to use your own judgement, most people were
educated to do that in the 'old days' before the modern era.

I wasn't thinking of your grandchildren so much as your children
who are mature people out in the world. I also didn't think of
twitter which I don't do.
Yes we do have to make up our own minds but if an issue is
important enough to niggle, it helps to discuss it informally.
It's the sort of thing I would discuss in real life, in fact I
will very soon. Discussion often helps us see things that we
read on the internet in proportion. Anyone can post anything
they like online. Youtube is unbelievably awful when it comes
to some subjects!
Btw Doug Mainwaring is on Facebook. I browsed his page.

I'm sure you do. We have both been around since the BBC R&E
forum - which was great. I often think I would like to give up
the internet, except for looking things up when I need to,
ordering stuff and email. I spend too much time on it and it
does me no good. I dislike Facebook. One day I will just
disappear and doubt I'll be missed.

You would be missed Lyn, but I will go before you.
I sent (by net file) my annual tax return to Rev Can some time
ago. Today I received a refund cheque , by mail of $121.09. In
view of the forthcoming strike, it was a wise decision.
