That's something I need to do, Roses.

We go or a cleaning every six months, which is probably
excessive. Since we started using the electric tooth brush, the
cleanings are so quick and we haven't had any problems with
teeth or gums for years.

Haven't been to a dentist for nigh-on 40 years.

I haven't been to the dentist for over four years, during which
there was lockdown of course. Prior to that I did go
regularly, including seeing the hygienist. I do need to go but
I hate going out.

Have you had no dental problems in all that time? ???

Not really. My gnashers are not pretty, but they serve their
purpose, and I haven't had toothache for about the same length
of time.

Steve, you might want to visit the dentist to see about gum
health too. It can be more important to overall health. (Been a
student of this after losing my father so early in his life.)

I agree with you. Gum health is very important, I always brush
my gums as well as my teeth. Our dentist is impressed with the
state of my gums.

Like Steve, I've had no problems with my teeth in all my 75
years. I brush them only every other day (the other days I just
swill my mouth with antiseptic mouthwash after meals, which also
removes the clinging bits of food) as I think excessive brushing
is counterproductive, and I couldn't be damned bothered anyway.
I never visit a dentist, not least as I do not like the idea of
being stretched out on a leather bed like a candidate for
execution with my mouth gaping wide open like a lobotomised
idiot while some white-coated joker is poking around inside it
with fiendish instruments while his mental cash register is
clocking up the latest cash deposit in his bank account.

Greg, your Mediterranean diet helps. After I cut back on gluten
and simple carbs, the hygienist noted a big difference in my gum
health (no plaque to speak of.) I had no idea, but I'm glad I
know it now. I too might skip a night of brushing if I've had
little to no carbs. The hygienist has said more than once that
Asians who consume a lot of white rice are the worst for plaque
accumulation.
