Calculators

I have 11 of them that work and one that doesn't. I can get all
kinds of physical constants on a couple of them . And on one I
manage to program in BASIC.I have colour and plain old black. On
more than one I can do calculus and one is in colour, About
three of them came with an explanatory book.More on this subject
later.

It was either 1983 or 1986 or perhaps in later years that I
purchased the Casio fx-7700G in Chicago. It was a Power Graphic
and can draw graphs and do integral calculus.
Yesterday I bought batteries for it and got it working for a
while. Now it has stopped working and it has got a screw missing
- or rather. Running around inside. I have seen it and will try
and get it out today. Oh I almost forgot! it gives the wrong
answers to simple questions. The answer is always ZERO.

I have a Radio Shack Ec-4024 10 digit scientific calculator in
front of me as I write. It has on it a built in formula list of
23 formulas, this includes the distance of drop ,s= VT + .5gt
squared, There is also the normal of probability function, and
Coulomb's Law , to mention others useful to students of physics
and electrical engineering.
It also has 9 constants such as the speed of light and the
Plank constant. It also can and does currently work without a
battery using a solar cell for power. you can also program with
it.
This one still works correctly without a battery.

Another of calculator (this one was made in Japan, not China) is
a Sharp pocket computer pc-1247 which can in addition to
performIng the mathematical duties of today's computers can also
program in BASIC.I have programmed it to calculate the distance
between two points on the earth using a Great Circle mathematics
formula. Arc cos(sinAsinB +cosAcosB(C-D) where A is latitude, C
is longtitude of your starting point .B and D are your
corresponding ending points. THe diameter of the earth is
7915.6 miles. If on a ship you multiply by 0.86838 to get
nautical miles. First change degrees to radians by dividing pi
by 180.
Then you program in BASIC.

I also possess a Texas Instruments, graphic calculator in black
and white called a TI-83 plus.
I am going to close this section soon.
Texas Instruments are expensive and appear to be losing the
competitive market to Casio.I haven't mentioned Sharp
calculators which have an office in Canada, close by.. They
have a simpler way of doing integral calculus. I do have one
from Sharp.
.Finally, have a BA II Plus , by Texas Instruments This has a
book that came with it, and it is all about Finance.
