Price of coffee in EU

In Ireland it is 3 euros in any shop. In Madeira it is .80cents
of a euro. Why the difference?

No idea, never thought of it. I only drink coffee in England
nowadays and usually make it myself :-). I buy Colombia via and
Nescafe Azeera, can't remember what it costs. I don't buy it
often and when I do it's sufficient to last a long time. In an
ordinary cafe or restaurant it is between £2.50 and £3.40 for a
cup.

We have a mug of strong coffee every morning with biscuits after
getting up using milled coffee in a coffee maker like the one
below. It's from Colombia but I don't remember the price (paid
by credit card with other items.)

We use Zavida coffee beans and grind our own.

It's very 'you' to bring up the price of a cup of coffee, Leslie
:). Most people don't even think about it, never mind comparing
prices between countries.

The price is of a cup of coffee outside home at a small store or
McDonald's or another coffee shop. They don't have McDonalds in
Madeira where 'on the streets' it is 0.81 Euros per cup,
My concern is of price fixing by coffee distributers, for their
own financial advantage. In Ireland for example.

I suppose it depends how much coffee you drink. I just have one
in the morning. I will occasionally have one out but if it is
just occasionally, I don't care about the cost. I obviously
would if I did it every day. McDonald's coffee is reputed to be
pointless, like drinking a cup of (very) hot water.

McDonalds coffee here is very good and better than that at Tim
Hortons.

I don't know Tim Horton. I don't go to McDonald's, or haven't
for a long time, but I might now if only to sample their coffee
:-).
PS: I looked on McDonald's website and they sell all sorts of
coffee now, never used to. Looks quite good plus some of their
food looks half decent.

I have never purchased a cup of coffee, or tea for that matter.
I prefer to make my own. I only drink instant Kenco coffee with
a very small amount of milk and one sweetener. I have one small
mug of it with my breakfast, and one midmorning. I have a small
mug of Tetley tea with a drop of milk and one sweetener at
lunchtime and one mid afternoon. I also drink plenty of water
too.
