Here's a report from last year on the sexual abuses in Spanish
Catholic educational institutions with around 200,000 victims.
That is a huge number and speaks for itself.

One starts to wonder how many priests, monks and nuns aren't
abusing children.

Those in the hierarchy of the Catholic Church who have covered
up the sexual abuse carried out by their priests are almost as
culpable as those evil perverts. They should be required to
report it to the police.

Legally, I think they are required to report such abuses to the
police, otherwise they could (and should) be accused of
collaboration and charged accordingly. Of course, the sheer
scale and extent of the abuses reflects enormously on the
supposed moral rectitude of a church which purports to be
Christ's true representatives on earth. That's probably the
reason for all the cover-ups (until exposed), revealing the
sheer hypocrisy of the 'guardians' of morality.
Of course, this has all backfired on the church hierarchy and
discredited it further in already sceptical eyes. There should
be at very least a purging of all offenders and a greater
control of the Catholic schools and colleges.
