I don't even have a niece! Incidentally, I see I misspelt niece
as neice. Unforgiveable - I'll have to do penitence with 100
Hail Caesars! (I'm not a Catholic so I can't do Hail Marys and,
moreover, we have to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's.)
("Ahh..." Throat's ok, thanks!)

Indeed (or even Ceaser's according to some fb posters)! He
invented a good salad, some dog food, and a casino is named
after him. All that good was interred with his bones!
A 'Hail Mary' is also a desperate, last possible chance against
all odds to get a positive outcome, in American legal/cop
colloquial language. I know a lot about American cops and
lawyers, don't ask me how.
I saw the 'neice' but thought that may have been how the spam
poster spelled it.

It’s ok Bev, so long as you don’t send money or give bank
details x

I did court the idea of replying, “You’re such a thoughtful
uncle. I wouldn’t know how to send an Amazon gift card, but I
can give you my bank account info if that would be easier for
you.” 😂

Dear Beverly,
I have been contacted by a long lost half cousin once removed
who is very sick and wants to see me before she expires. She
has begged me to visit, she plans to leave me everything in her
will. Her name is Ghengista and she lives in Eastern Mongolia
which is a fair trek from South East London. I cannot afford
the fare at the moment so wondered if you would be kind enough
to loan me £1,500. Please be assured I will repay you when she
pops her clogs and I receive my inheritance.
With thanks in advance.
Your good friend always,
Lyn

I had a call last year from someone pretending to be from my
bank.
They said there had been suspicious activity on my card and to
send it by recorded delivery to an address they gave me.
I took the address and reported it to the fraud squad, so they
could visit the address.
On googling it, it was a block of flats in London.
Obviously there must be sufficient gullible people to make it
worth their while.

I haven't had any dodgy emails supposedly from Greg. I get dodgy
emails from time to time, like most people, but I think I'm good
at spotting them.

Me too. I don't bother to reply, just delete. I receive less now
since I upped my protective software. I used to reply when I
first had e-mail. For example I would see an email from someone
called 'Sarah' and think it might be someone I knew. On opening
it would be an invitation to get together with a hot Russian
girl! I remember replying, "Why are you sending this to me, a
straight woman? You must be mistaking me for someone else".
:-). I learned.
Do you get funny requests on facebook? I do and they are quite
obvious, sometimes funny.

I don't want you to feel left out, Steve, so here's one for you:
Hello,
I'm seriously thinking of standing as Reform candidate in the
next election and I need your financial support. Can you send a
postal order for at least 100 pounds to the address below? You
can then claim your own personally autographed photo of Nigel
Farage.

Scambridge,

Well done, Andrew (& lovely to see you).
My cousin, who I would not consider naive or vulernable, was
terribly upset about her bank account being hacked within the
last year, after she responded to an email pertaining to be from
Microsoft, which looked quite genuine.
As well as money disappearing, she ended up being telephoned by
all sorts of people, eg M&S, with whom she had had dealings.
It was all sorted in the end but she was, and is, traumatised.
These scammers are horrible!
