She must be the oldest woman in the U.K. (Or close to it.)

I echo that. She could have a few more years ahead of her too,
the oldest woman in UK and Europe is currently 115 (fourth
oldest in the world), and oldest man in UK and the world, 111.
Let's hope she stays well, Roses.

The previously oldest woman (and person) in the world, Maria
Branyas Morera, has died at the age of 117. She was Catalan and
lived most of her life here in Catalonia. From a newspaper
       report:
"Branyas, who lived through the 1918 flu, the First and Second
World Wars and Spain’s civil war, got Covid-19 in 2020, just
weeks after her 113th birthday. She was confined to her room at
the home but made a full recovery. Her youngest daughter, Rosa
Moret, once attributed her mother’s longevity to genetics. “She
has never gone to the hospital, she has never broken any bones,
she is fine, she has no pain,” Moret told regional Catalan
television in 2023. Branyas told the Guinness World Records
website she believed her longevity stemmed from “order,
tranquility, good connection with family and friends, contact
with nature, emotional stability, no worries, no regrets, lots
of positivity and staying away from toxic people”
I wonder whom she regarded as 'toxic people'. Anyway, I would
add the famous Mediterranean diet to her list, often considered
to be the healthiest in the world.

       More facts:
The oldest living woman in the world now is Japan’s Tomiko
Itooka, who was born on 23 May 1908 and is 116.
The oldest verified person to have ever lived was Jeanne Louise
Calment, a French woman who died in 1997 at the age of 122 years
       and 164 days.

Regarding Maria Branyas Morera, you quoted: “She has never gone
to the hospital, she has never broken any bones, she is fine,
       she has no pain,”
A wise woman indeed! Plus the healthy Mediterranean diet of
course, which I try to copy :-).
I have no ambition to live as long as that lady, however I've
never (yet) broken a bone despite some awful accidents and
decided, after my last hospitalisation, never to go there again
short of being run over by a bus or breaking a leg! My (ex)
neighbour had Covid, she was extremely ill for a short time,
including great difficulty in swallowing; she did not go (was
not persuaded/forced), to hospital or call her GP and recovered
well. It all seems a long time ago now but it wasn't really
       that long.
If I am ill in the future, I intend to treat myself at home (and
if necessary will barricade myself in :-)).

Lyn, have you discussed this with your son, if you have what was
       his reaction?

He knows exactly how I feel and why. He understands.
My wish is that it is not put to the test. I so much fear losing
all control of my life. However I do realise things can happen
that we cannot foresee or plan for.
I heard today of a young-ish woman (47), I know very well, have
known her since childhood. She is married with two teenagers.
Her husband was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis some years
ago, can now hardly walk, and her eldest, 18,has unstable
epilepsy; I didn't know about the latter until today, felt
       shocked and very, very sad.
You never know what life will bring, I am fortunate in many ways
       - so far.
